About This Pub
Ah, The Forester – it's one of those Ealing gems that really pulls you in with its beautiful old building and fresh refurb, making you feel right at home from the moment you step inside. I've heard from folks that the staff can be top-notch, going out of their way to make your visit memorable, and the Thai food on offer sounds like a lovely change from the usual pub grub, perfect for a casual catch-up or even a family outing. It's got that welcoming atmosphere for events too, which is brilliant if you're planning something special. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing; some have mentioned patchy service, like waiting ages for attention or dealing with uncleared tables, and it can get a bit chaotic with little ones running about, which might not suit everyone looking for a quiet pint. Overall, it's worth a go if you're in the area, but maybe pop in on a quieter day to get the best of it – just keep an eye on those booking details to avoid any surprises!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Forester boasts a stunning Grade II listed building with charming original features, all spruced up by a recent refurbishment that makes it feel fresh yet full of character.
-
The staff can be absolutely brilliant – think attentive and welcoming service that really makes your evening, like when they go the extra mile to help out.
-
It's got a great vibe for families and private events, with options for Thai-inspired dishes that blend spicy, sour, sweet, and salty flavours just right.
-
Being in the heart of Ealing, it's a solid spot for catching live sport or gathering with mates for a relaxed pint in a moderately priced setting.
Cons
-
Service can be hit or miss, with some experiences involving long waits for orders or tables not being cleared, which puts a dampener on the night.
-
It's sometimes overrun with lively kids, turning what could be a peaceful pub session into something more like a playground extension, making it tough to chat over a drink.
-
Food quality seems inconsistent; while it can be spot on, other times it's disappointing and leaves you wishing for better.
-
There have been a few hiccups with table bookings, like being asked to move after settling in, which can feel a bit frustrating on an otherwise promising visit.

Been coming to this pub for the past 18 years always a hit but unfortunately last night was very disappointing. We booked a table for 10 there was 0 service and the table was not cleared the entire evening. Food which usually ticks the box was very unsatisfactory and left us a bit red faced as we had recommended the pub to our guests. To top this off we literally had to tuck our noses in our t-shirt when entering the gents loo. What has gone so wrong in such a short time I don't know. Won't be back anytime soon.
Used to be a lovely pub and staff and such are still great but unfortunately, it seems to be overrun by parents who don't want to look after their children and let them run around screaming. You can't go and enjoy a drink with friends anymore because it's an extension of the playground for parents who won't supervise their kids
We have been to the Thai restaurant 3 times now. The first time was excellent, the second was ok but the third time was awful. The last time we waited for over 30 minutes for our order to be taken despite asking at the bar after 15 minutes.
The restaurant is at the back of the pub with doors onto the garden. The doors are left open and it is freezing sitting in the restaurant area so recommend sitting in the bar area but there is no table service there. I don't think we will be back for a while.
Issy was amazing. Really attentive and welcoming. Came with friends and she really made the evening. My friend even Left her passport and her keen eye noticed. Thank you all so much. Family friendly venue
We came to the foresters this evening and settled at a table in the main pub area. Unfortunately, someone before us had removed the ‘reserved’ sign on the table we sat at. We had just settled in and ordered food when we were asked to move, as someone had actually booked the table we had sat at. I have to say the grace in which the team dealt with this was amazing. One member of staff (whose name we didn’t catch) dealt with us and we were really satisfied with the outcome. We were moved to the Thai restaurant (which made more sense as we were eating) and they made us so comfortable. This also detracted from me getting the wrong order. The food was lovely, the service from bar staff and restaurant was exceptional. We can’t thank you all enough for ensuring we had a lovely evening.
