About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Fighting Cocks – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its classic charm and that genuine neighbourhood feel in Moseley. I love how it's managed to keep things relaxed yet memorable, whether you're popping in for a laid-back lunch, a hearty Sunday roast, or just a few drinks in the beer garden. The food really shines; the roasts and pork belly are absolute winners, cooked fresh and full of flavour, and the staff go out of their way to make everything smooth, like when they sorted a big table for a group without any fuss. It's got that homely atmosphere with nice touches like being dog-friendly, which makes it even more appealing for a casual outing. On the flip side, though, drinks can be a bit on the steep side, so you might want to keep an eye on that if you're out for the evening. And while most of the menu is spot-on, there have been a few mentions of smaller issues, like the pork scratchings not being as crispy as they'd like. All in all, it's a solid spot for a get-together, with plenty of positives that outweigh the minor niggles, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a proper pub experience in Birmingham.

The Fighting Cock’s accommodated a large table of 12 people for us and made the experience really stress free! They set up the table beautifully, the food was excellent and the drinks are always reasonably priced. One of the best pubs in Birmingham!!
Super quality roast! Really friendly staff and good value for money on the food. Drinks a bit expensive. Would return for sure
Myself and my partner had the pork belly which was delicious. The pork mash and veg were perfect. Pork melted in the mouth! The only thing that wasn’t as amazing was the pork scratching as it was a bit hard but we gave it to our dogs who were very appreciative.
Service was fantastic, both at the bar and to the table, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. They gave us water and treats for the dogs which were gratefully received. Our friends had sausage and mash and the pie and were also very happy with their meals.
It was warm and cosy which was great to come into on such a cold frosty day, with a really cosy ambiance and they also had great music playing low in the background which we enjoyed.
We stayed for a few hours after lunch as we were so comfortable and were happy to see cafe petron was available so enjoyed a nice shot as well as our ciders and ales.
Love this pub it’s iconic and the heart of Moseley.
I came here over Christmas with friends and it’s a really nice old pub with a great atmosphere. It is dog friendly and the outdoors has heating too. The food is high quality and the cocktails are very reasonably priced.
I doubt there's a more chilled out pub in Birmingham.
This is a large old coaching house set in the middle of Moseley's cosmopolitan High street.
Big, airy, large stained glass windows, nice open real fire with large tables, unobtrusive chilled music in the background and a cool chatty beer garden out back.
I'm always astounded at how quiet the place is on a Saturday afternoon with just a few tables taken up but that makes it such a terrific place to come and unwind and enjoy unforced conversation with the people you love.
I must mention the food - I've never been let down here and it's in my top 5 places to eat in all of Birmingham. Fresh ingredients cooked properly and consistently are the tune played here.
The cod and chips always satisfies but the creamy and lightly spiced sausage and mash I recently had cooked by Chef Tarek was sensational.
Highly recommended.
