About This Pub

You know, I had a right good time at The Dark Horse the other week, and it's just the sort of spot you'd fancy for a relaxed catch-up with mates. They've nailed the craft beer scene with a solid lineup that changes regularly, so there's always something new to try, whether you're into IPAs or something lighter. Pair that with some seriously tasty grub – think juicy burgers and fresh sandwiches that leave you satisfied – and you've got a winner. The staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and making sure everything runs smoothly. Then there are the live music nights and events, which really amp up the fun and give it that community feel. On the flip side, the menu doesn't have a massive variety, so if you're after more adventurous eats, you might end up a tad disappointed. Oh, and do keep an eye on those kitchen hours; it's closed on Tuesdays and winds down early some evenings, which means planning ahead is a must. All in all, it's a solid choice for beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike, as long as you're okay with its quirks – I'd say it's well worth a visit for a proper Birmingham pub experience.

New menu mainly featuring burgers and a couple of hot dogs. Food was freshly made and tasty. Very nice staff also. *** Went there to try out Brum Mi and the food was very tasty. Loved the hearty portion size and the high quality ingredients. Both the pork and the beef were succulent and even the pickled veggies were nom. We were also pleasantly surprised by the cauliflower bites coated in a sticky sweet sauce. As a die hard salt and pepper tofu lover, these cauliflower bites would give the beloved tofu a run for its money. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The only downside was that we were driving so couldn’t sample the broad selection of beer there. We definitely would be returning and look forward to having a couple of pints alongside.

We booked to go to the Dark Horse before a concert and from the moment we arrived we felt the welcome of the staff. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and served us immediately. The menu is fairly small, but the food was incredible. The bacon cheeseburger was incredible, with a great choice of music in the background. There's a wide range of craft beers, as well as "normal" beers and ciders too for those less adventurous. Would highly recommend.

Always an excellent beer selection - genuinely something for everyone. New (early 2025) menu has a lot of vegan/veggie subs possible. Also, they have frickles

Fantastic bar and grill type pub! I recommend the Banh Mi BBQ chicken sandwich with seasonal fries, it’s a tasty Vietnamese sandwich, burns your mouth off but it’s so tasty! Great selection of craft beers on tap too for the beer enthusiasts, and great friendly service.

First time here and I can honestly say I was IMPRESSED. Exceptional service from friendly staff, that didn't view us as a way to upsell. Wide range f draft beers, ales and spirits to choose from, especially the IPA 😍🤤... With samples provided of one's I was unsure of. Ordering was simple, with a decent range of dishes to choose from. The food arrived hot and in a timely manner and the waitress even rectified an easy mistake by replacing with a whole new dish. Great seating area outside, perfect for a sunny day, and lots of seating inside too. Will definitely visit again.
