About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Queen's Arms, it's got that perfect blend of a classic pub feel with a bit of a gourmet twist, tucked away in Walthamstow Village. The menu's packed with tempting choices, from small plates like mackerel escabeche to larger feasts like the beer-battered cod or even vegan options, and most folks are raving about how tasty everything is – especially those acclaimed fries that are crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. It's a great spot for a Sunday lunch or just catching up over a glass of wine, with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the fresh air. On the upside, being dog-friendly adds a nice community touch, and they've got a solid selection of drinks to keep things flowing. But, fair's fair, I've heard a few grumbles about the staff not always being as warm as you'd hope, with one person calling out the manager for lacking customer service, and it seems experiences can vary from one visit to the next. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2, it's worth popping in for the grub and atmosphere – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely brilliant, with standout dishes like those crispy, fluffy fries and hearty options such as sausage and mash or the vegan burger – it's a real treat for anyone after a proper meal.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed sit-down with mates, especially with the outdoor seating in the garden or on the pavement.
-
It's dog-friendly, which is a great touch if you're out with your four-legged companion, making it feel more inclusive and homely.
-
They've got a cracking selection of beers, wines, and even sparkling options, so there's something for everyone whether you're in for a quick pint or a full evening.
Cons
-
Some staff can come across as a bit rude, like the manager mentioned in a review, which might spoil the mood even if the food's spot on.
-
Service isn't always consistent; one visit might be fantastic, but another could leave you wanting more, as per a few mixed experiences shared.
-
You might find certain items missing from the menu when you fancy them, such as the cauliflower cheese on the Sunday lunch spread, which is a shame for traditionalists.

Nice pub and good atmosphere…..however staff are quite rude. Especially who I think was the manager (gentleman with long blonde hair) just zero customer service. Food was lovely though! Although missed having cauliflower cheese as a side on the Sunday lunch menu.
A tale of two meals. I’d been to the queens arms a couple of months ago and quite frankly had a pretty dismal experience. However all has been forgiven after a perchance meal for myself and my son after we came back from being away. Two ravenous individuals and a smaller menu. We both opted for the chicken schnitzel, one adults and one children’s. The kids had chips and peas while the adults came with a cedar salad. We shared the croquets which were pure delicious heaven. The staff were lovely and really helpful. The food was out quickly and taste heavenly. Anyways such a lovely time there.
Nice gastro pub, it’s more for sitting down to eat rather than for drinkers. Clean and bright as well as serving the best fries I’ve ever tasted in a gastro pub. These fries were crisp, dry and fluffy in the middle.
Good pub in Walthamstow Village about ten minutes walk from Central Station. Two cask beers on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating on the pavement and in the paved garden to the rear.
