About This Pub
Ah, the Earl of Chatham – it's one of those classic London pubs that really hits the mark if you're after a place to catch the big game or just unwind with a cheap pint. From what I've gathered, it's got this great community feel, with HD screens everywhere showing live footie, rugby, and more, alongside fun extras like pool and darts that make it perfect for a casual evening with friends. The drinks deals are a real winner too, keeping things affordable without skimping on quality. But, let's be straight, it's not all smooth sailing; a few folks have mentioned run-ins with staff or security that left them feeling a bit overlooked or unfairly treated, which is a shame because it could sour an otherwise good night. Overall, I'd say it's worth checking out if you're into sports and don't mind a traditional pub crowd, just go in with your eyes open and maybe chat with the bar team to get the lay of the land – that way, you can make the most of the positives while steering clear of any potential pitfalls.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's got a brilliant setup for watching live sports, with HD screens showing everything from football to boxing, making it a top spot for game days.
-
Drinks are affordably priced, like pints for just £4, which keeps things light on the wallet while you're enjoying a pint with mates.
-
Loads of entertainment on offer, including pool tables, dart boards, and even free pool on Mondays, plus live music on weekends to keep the atmosphere buzzing.
-
The place is spacious with plenty of seating, and some folks rave about the quick service and how clean it all is.
-
It's a community-focused pub with a welcoming vibe for casual meet-ups, especially if you're into sports and a bit of fun.
Cons
-
There have been a few reports of staff not being as friendly or fair, with some feeling brushed off or treated poorly by security.
-
Occasional issues with management not stepping in impartially, which has left a sour taste for some regular visitors.
-
It can feel a bit cliquey at times, like an old boys' hangout, so it might not be the most inclusive spot for everyone.
-
A couple of experiences shared online suggest entry problems or feeling unwelcome, which could put a damper on your night out.

A lovely place, nice people! But the bar maid Antonia was such a kind, warm generous lovely lady! It felt like my own living room. What a wonderful lady
I used to love going to karaoke but i was told one evening that I couldnt come in and said i was too rude. I have always been a loyal customer but i was lied about by security at door. Manager backed them up and wasnt impartial. Staff arent nice or value regular customers. You feel badly treated and disrespected. Nothing was done to hear my side of things. They should have more professional and mature staff. They are mallicious and nasty.
I used to come to this pub casually B4. Vibes is good if you are hanging around with your mates on the weekends. One time I came in a group with my friends to celebrate who recently passed a military test. We were not allowed in. For some stupid reason claiming we did some dodgy stuff in prior that we weren't involved in. Securities hold the grudges from previous customers and and blame it on the next. Vibes you get from the security is some next level RN. They think they own the place or something that they think they hold the power of the law with SIA. I held the SIA license once. I know the rules. They accuse you of some1 that you are not. All I can say is they should have gone specs savers.
A big pub with lots of sports on screens. Fosters at £4 a pint. The service is quick. The crowd when I went was old boy regulars. Went in the back room which is spacious, with darts board and lots of seating. Music playing over speakers was relatively modern. Not somewhere I’ll return to unless need somewhere spacious to watch sport.
Exceeded expectations! Has had such a amazing revamp doesn’t even feel like the same place! Drinks are cheap as chips and is amazingly clean! Pool table, drinks available on tap including Camden hells, strongbow and fosters. Clean and nice toilets, lots of tvs available to watch from ALL angles, nice beer garden very clean and polite staff members. Very nice pub in London would defo recommend
