About This Pub

Ah, The Doll At The Black Bull – from what I've gathered from the chatter online, it's one of those hidden treasures in Gateshead that's all about the live music and good times. Folks rave about the excellent location, right in the heart of things, and how the staff go out of their way to make evenings memorable with their friendly service. The atmosphere sounds spot on for a fun night, with quality ales on tap and a menu that could tempt anyone for a bite. But, on the flip side, it's a bit disheartening to see it's listed as closed, and without much in the way of details like opening times or a proper website, it might leave you scratching your head about when to pop in. Still, based on those glowing reviews, it's got real potential for when it's back up and running – I'd say keep it on your list if you're after a proper pub experience with a musical twist.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The live music scene is absolutely buzzing – it's a fantastic spot for catching great gigs and soaking up that lively vibe.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of quality ales and a menu that's genuinely mouth-watering, perfect for a proper night out.
Cons
  • It looks like the place might be closed at the moment, which is a real shame given the positive buzz.
  • There's not much info available online, like operating hours or a website, making it tricky to plan a visit.
  • With only a small number of reviews out there, it's hard to get a full sense of what it's like on a regular basis.

Great venue and staff. There are some untrue reviews that have recently been left by the hunt fraternity; after they found out a benefit gig to support those who are against bloodsports is being held here - hunt supporters are spreading lies in a desperate attempt to target small businesses who host anti bloodsports groups. Disingenuous accusations have been made by those who participate in illegal and cruel bloodsports, they are clearly feeling threatened by the people who monitor their illegal and cruel activities. Thankfully businesses like this will not be bullied into submission. We are on the right side of history. Medieval throwbacks will not deter our mission. Thanks for continuing to help wildlife and the groups who protect them from being persecuted for egotistical purposes.
