About This Pub

You know, I've popped into The Tilley Stone a few times, and it's got that reliable Wetherspoons vibe – cracking deals on beers and meals that make it a go-to for a budget-friendly night out. The locals are always up for a chat, and when the service clicks, it's spot on with quick app orders and a lively buzz. It's open all week from early morning till late, which is dead handy if you're out and about. But, to be fair, it's not all roses; I've heard tales of the app playing up, like not finding certain dishes, and the place can feel a tad chilly, which isn't ideal for settling in. Plus, a few folks have mentioned run-ins with the management that knocked the shine off their visit. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual pint or meal if you're keeping costs down, just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a good time.

Was a bit unsure given the location on Jackson Street but have been in a few times now. Good beer, great prices, excellent service and friendly locals. Haven't had any food but its certainly well priced.

Couldn't order via their app. Place was cold, wherever you sat. I couldn't find their 2 chicken-strip burger on their app. I wanted prawn crackers or Thai crackers, nor could I buy them anywhere in the monstrous Gateshead mall.

My review was originally five stars but I've edited due to a personal experience and the way I've seen the manager do similar things to others. I can see why people think he's great - well spoken and generally polite, but no people skills at all. I politely (legitimately politely) asked him why he felt it necessary to have a girl I know in tears the week before. He immediately got salty, despite me laughing and saying 'I'm not looking for an argument here mate, just an apology to her, that's all...' - flat out refused to accept he was perhaps in the wrong and demanded that we leave immediately. Politely told him we have no problem leaving but given that we've not done anything unreasonable, we will finish our drinks. At this point he says 'whatever, I'll get the police' and stormed out. Absolute man child who hasn't got the decency to hear people out or EVEN just say he thinks there's been a misunderstanding. Since this happened I've seen him refusing to serve people because they've been having a laugh - they really weren't being a nuisance, just normal banter any group has. I agree strong management is necessary given the location of Tilley Stone but that guy needs to get his act together and grow up a bit, power-mad melt.

Dreadful service from management. Myself and my friend came back to Gateshead after a joyful experience Christmas shopping at the metro centre. We haven’t seen each other in 18 months so were a bit giddy and awaiting our third friend meeting us for a quick 30 minute pitstop , My friend who I’d been shopping with said she’d get the singular pint in advance so no time was wasted at the bar . We were told no more drinks as shed “had enough” .my friend is deaf and has other disabilities but was completely humiliated at the bar in front of other customers. Absolutely horrendous place . I will be taking this further

Everything about a weatherspoons is great, big enough to accommodate the masses, great value, every time I've ordered on the app my food was brought within 5 minutes. Free refills on all tea and coffee, the list goes on. The Tilly stone is a little rough round the edges but all in all its our new favourite place for breakfast, staff are very friendly it's cozy and the food is decent.
