About This Pub
Ah, The Dog and Duck – it's one of those timeless spots in Soho that just feels like a slice of old London, you know? With its roots going back to 1734 and famous faces like George Orwell having popped in, the place has this incredible heritage that really shines through in the beautifully tiled interiors. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the food is spot on – think hearty pies and ales that hit the mark every time, leaving you with that satisfied glow. The vibe is just lovely for a casual chat or a quick bite, and it's not too pricey for the area, which is a bonus. On the flip side, service can be a bit eager at times, rushing things along when you'd rather linger, and the varying opening hours might catch you off guard if you're out late. All in all, it's a brilliant choice for anyone after an authentic pub experience, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind to make the most of it.

Classic London pub with charm and great vibes
We popped into The Dog and Duck while sightseeing in central London and really enjoyed the experience.
It’s a classic pub with tons of character—beautiful interiors and a great atmosphere.
We had a refreshing pint and soaked up the lively energy of the place. Perfect for a quick stop or a relaxed drink while exploring the city.
Friendly staff, great location, and a proper London pub feel. Worth a visit!
I’ve had the best steak pie ever and the service was amazing, Ben was so nice and helpful.
By incredible coincidence, just like on our holiday 11 years ago, we chose this pub for lunch. When we sought out the pub, we didn't realise it at first until we went upstairs to eat. The food was delicious the mashed potatoes soft and creamy and the sausage crispy finished with a soft sauce of caramelised onion. The staff was super friendly. I would definitely recommend this one for a nice cosy drink but surely something to eat too.
I went for lunch for a steak and ale pie, was not disappointed. Really good, not stodgy like most. Very tasty! Good ale too, very fair price for central London. Service felt a little pushy at the end where the bill was put on my table before I’d finished my food. Apart from that service was friendly.
Just visiting London for a week and really glad we found this place. My husband and I enjoyed the fish and chips and the pie with mash. The quality of the pie and the fish was so pleasing, the first bite was met with a kind of joy that makes me close my eyes and tear up when I eat food this good. The atmosphere and the service was the perfect pub experience. A true highlight of our trip. We will definitely be back again.
