About This Pub

Ah, The Dispensary on Renshaw Street is one of those pubs that just draws you in for a proper pint and a relaxed catch-up. From the reviews I've seen, it's got this great selection of beers that includes everything from smooth Guinness and Murphy's to some excellent craft and cask options – it's clear a lot of folks love kicking back with a cold one there. The atmosphere is spot on too, with a lively buzz and staff who are dead friendly, making it feel like a proper local hangout. It's in a handy spot near some Liverpool landmarks, and being inexpensive means you can make a night of it without spending a fortune. On the downside, though, the toilets aren't up to scratch; a few have mentioned they're a bit of a state with wet floors, which can put a dampener on things. Also, while they do have some local brews, it's mostly the well-known ones taking centre stage, so if you're after something more unique from the area, you might end up a tad disappointed. All in all, it's a solid spot for a casual drink – worth a visit if you're in the mood for good vibes and a decent beer, just keep expectations realistic for the finer details.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of beers, including classics like Guinness and Murphy's, plus craft and cask ales that really hit the spot
  • Friendly and welcoming staff who create a warm, buzzing atmosphere – perfect for a good chat
  • Lively vibe in a central Liverpool spot, making it easy to pop in after exploring the area
  • Inexpensive prices, so you can enjoy a quality pint without worrying about the wallet
Cons
  • The toilets are a bit of a let-down; they've been described as messy with a soaking floor, which isn't the best
  • The beer lineup leans towards popular big names rather than a wider range of local brews, which might leave some wanting more variety

A fairly busy Irish bar on Renshaw Street. Has a good pint of Guinness. Not many bars serve Murphy’s but the Dispensary does and that is pretty good too.

A bustling pub with friendly service and a great selection of beers. There are great craft beers and a good selection of pilsner style beers. It’s a slightly scuffed style traditional pub, with far stools of every style for you to sit on. Going the toilets is an experience and the floor was soaking, but the pubs buzz and vibe gloss over going for a swim.

A fantastic pub and well worth a visit but the cask line up is full of popular big hitters which is a pity when there are so many local brews about. Saying that I did have a pint of the locally brewed Neptune Sea of Dreams

Just around the corner from the bombed out church, this is a great spot to stop for a pint. The big windows and open doors were letting in plenty of sunshine and warm air on a beautiful late March day. Great draft beers and cask ales to choose from and friendly folk. What more could you want in a pub?
