About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about Pogue Mahone in Liverpool – it's one of those classic Irish pubs that just feels like a proper hideaway in the city centre. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the Guinness is spot on, creamy and poured to perfection, which is always a winner for a good night out. The live music every single evening really adds to the buzz, and with big screens for all the sports action, it's brilliant if you're keen on catching a match or just soaking up the atmosphere. It's versatile too; you can pop in for a relaxed afternoon pint or ramp it up for a full-on evening. That said, it's not without its downsides – the prices are a bit on the high side, so you might end up spending more than expected, and while the staff get the job done, they're not always the friendliest, which can make things feel a little flat if you're after that warm, chatty vibe. All in all, it's a solid spot for anyone wanting a taste of authentic Irish hospitality in Liverpool, but go in with your eyes open to get the best out of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Guinness is absolutely spot on – creamy and just as you'd hope for in a proper Irish pub.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere with live music every night and big screens showing all the live sports, making it perfect for a lively evening.
  • A welcoming spot for all sorts, whether you're up for a buzzing night out or a more relaxed session over a few pints.
  • It's been a Liverpool favourite for over 20 years, capturing that authentic Irish charm that's hard to beat.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a bit steep on the wallet, like shelling out £9 for a pint and a glass of coke, which might catch you off guard.
  • The staff are efficient enough to get you your drink, but they're not always the chattiest bunch, which can make the place feel a tad impersonal at times.
  • The website's currently under maintenance, so it might be tricky to find up-to-date info online before you head over.

Great Guinness. Watched the match in here last game of the season, plenty of TVs and fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.

Came in for a creamy pint and was not let down. However , it was £9 for a pint and a glass of coke which seems very expensive but that might be normal prices for city folk

I've been there a few times. Live music is great and the people & atmosphere is top. The staff are not overwhelmingly friendly but you get the drink you order. The prices for a pint are quite expensive.
