About This Pub
Ah, The Cumberland Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Newcastle. I've got to say, what really stands out is the fantastic selection of beers; it's always a treat to try something new without breaking the bank. The beer garden is an absolute winner, especially on a sunny afternoon, with those gorgeous views over the Ouseburn Valley making it hard to leave. And the staff? They're so welcoming, it makes popping in feel like catching up with mates. Then there are the live events – music, comedy, poetry – they keep things lively and give the place a real community spirit. On the flip side, it's a bit compact inside, so if you're going on a packed night, you might end up jostling for space. Plus, with most seats outside, rainy days can put a damper on things, but that's just the British weather for you! Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back pint or a fun night out, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area – just keep an eye on the forecast!
Pros and Cons

The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a great variety that caters to all tastes and keeps things interesting.
-
The beer garden is a real highlight – it's excellent for soaking up the sun with stunning views over the Ouseburn Valley.

-
Loads of live events like music, comedy, and poetry sessions that add a fun, vibrant buzz to the place.
-
A cosy interior with a real fire in the winter, perfect for those chilly evenings when you want to hunker down.
Cons
-
The space inside is a bit on the small side, so it can feel a tad cramped when it's busy.
-
Most of the seating is outdoors, which is brilliant on a sunny day but not so great if the weather turns.
-
It might not suit everyone if you're after a larger venue with more room to spread out.

Always a favourite, great building, good selection of beers, excellent beer garden. Friendly staff.
Decent little pub and great for sitting in the sun with a drink. The venue itself is relatively small and the majority of the seating is outside...there was spill over onto the lawn on one side. Punters following the sun. I would defo go back.
Great choice of beer's, lovely staff & great live music, can't fault it, go & enjoy!
Great little pub with a good selection of beers
Arguably one of the best pubs in the North East. Great laid back atmosphere. Lots of space outside at the front overlooking the Lower Ouseburn valley. Cosy two room inside with real fire in the winter and loads of folk evenings in the other bar. Great small venue at the back/ upstairs. Always a good selection of cask ales and real ciders. All in all a great pub.
