About This Pub
Ah, The Crown Inn – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper neighbourhood gem in Walsall, where you can pop in for a relaxed catch-up or a bite to eat. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff are absolute stars; they're warm, helpful, and go out of their way to make sure everyone's sorted, whether you're there for a quick drink or a full meal. The menu's got some cracking choices too, with fresh ingredients and fair pricing that includes vegan and veggie options, plus it's brilliant for community events or watching the game with mates. But, let's be straight, it's not perfect – a few folks have mentioned the food can be inconsistent, like sides turning up cold or portions that leave you wanting more, and some dishes might feel a bit greasy or underwhelming. Still, with its strong rating and that community spirit, it's well worth a visit if you're nearby, as long as you keep expectations realistic for a typical pub outing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and always make you feel right at home, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
They use fresh, quality ingredients for their menus, with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans, and the prices are honest and fair.
-
It's a proper community spot, supporting local charities and offering their function area for free to groups, making it great for events or just gathering with mates.
-
The food hits the spot when it's good, like those sizzling skillets and flame-grilled burgers, and they've got some brilliant daily deals for value.
-
With a solid overall rating, it's a reliable place for watching sport, enjoying a meal, or simply unwinding in a traditional pub setting with a bit of extra flair.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss, like onion rings that arrive cold or a burger that might feel a bit sickly, which takes the edge off the experience.
-
Portion sizes are occasionally on the small side, so you might end up needing to order extras to feel satisfied.
-
Certain items, such as the Chinese spiced pork belly, can be a tad oily, making them less enjoyable than they could be.
-
Food quality isn't always consistent, with a few reviews noting average tastes that don't quite live up to the hype.

Nice looking seating area when you arrive, but I'm only giving 3 stars as the food was average. The double burger I had with pulled pork was sickly but burger patties were lovely. Onion rings on the side were cold, maybe a touch on the too cold side. The wife had a side portion of rings and they were cold too. Maybe left they had been left while our food was cooking. You may ask why we didn't complain at the time but we never got asked by any of the staff if the food was ok half way through which I thought was standard practice anywhere nowadays and i would complain but i do these reviews as some people dont like to walk to the bar and tell you there issues. 3 stars for food and service but nice pub overall. Had a booth table also which was uneven so the plates kept rocking while eating. Oh and Don't forget to put your reg in the computer to park or you maybe fined. On this occasion I'm not going to recommend friends or family to eat here
First time visit but won't be the last. The food was tasty and really well cooked and the service was great. Josh was really friendly and helpful. Well done to all.
Nice food at a fair price. Portion sizes a little small so had to order two sides to accompany the main meal. Staff very friendly and efficient. I would recommend if you are in the area.

I was recently involved with a film production which was filming in the area and The Crown Inn team went above and beyond to welcome the production team whilst we was in the area.
Not only did they allow us to reserve a section of the pub for our lunch over x3 days, they also gave us permission to use a large section of the car park to situate some of our tech and crew vehicles.
The whole experience dealing with them was second to none. They took great care to facilitate our booking from an early stage and the communication / customer service was impeccable.
I hope to be back in the area to pop in to this establishment again. Not to mention the quality of the food and drink.
Hats off to the whole team.
Best Wishes,
Jack
The "Grill" menu is excellent. If you like food coming to you piping hot this is for you. My salmon was perfectly cooked, the vegetables juicy and the rice tasty. The other dish is Chinese spiced pork belly. The meat was tender but the whole dish tended to be a bit oily. Food came in good time and Rosie was attentive and courteous.
