About This Pub

Ah, Lazy Hill Tavern Ale Pub & Kitchen – what a gem in Aldridge! From the reviews I've had a look at, it's clear this place knows how to make you feel right at home with its warm, welcoming vibe and staff who are quick off the mark to seat you and take your order. The food really shines through; folks rave about the mixed grills and how the portions are spot on, making it brilliant value for a family outing or a casual bite with friends. It's got that lively atmosphere you'd hope for in a good pub, and being kid-friendly adds a nice touch for those with little ones in tow. On the flip side, it's not all roses – some have mentioned that certain dishes, like the Chicken Dopiaza, didn't quite hit the mark, and while the menu looks extensive, it can feel a bit samey with mostly grill-focused options. Then there's the queuing for food and drinks, which seems to run smoothly but might slow things down if it's packed. Overall, with a solid 4.5 rating, it's a place I'd recommend for a reliable night out, but keep in mind those minor drawbacks if you're after something a bit more varied.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is spot on – friendly staff who welcome you warmly and get things moving quickly, making for a really pleasant visit.
  • The food is generally fantastic, with highlights like the mixed grill and small plates that come in generous portions, offering great value for money.
  • It has a vibrant and lively atmosphere, perfect for a family meal or catching up with mates, and it's quite kid-friendly too.
  • Prices are reasonable, with a good selection of curry-style meals, grills, and draught drinks to choose from.
  • The pub feels spacious and well-managed, making it a welcoming spot even if it's busy.
Cons
  • Some dishes, like the Chicken Dopiaza, might not live up to expectations if you're after the very best.
  • The menu, while large, doesn't offer much variety beyond similar grill options, which could feel a bit repetitive.
  • You have to queue up separately for food and drinks, which works okay but can be a tad inconvenient on busier nights.

Visited the pub earlier this evening - what a great end to a busy week! We were truly impressed by the service throughout our visit - we were welcomed by all staff members, seated within seconds and our order was taken within a few minutes. Service was incredibly quick. The food was faultless - the best mixed grill in the Midlands! The butter chicken was just perfect - will definitely be ordering again. We also had sides - chips, naan and rotis - everything was spot on! If only we had room for more, we would have ordered a sweet treat :) the quality cannot be matched. A lovely family run pub/ restaurant - I’d definitely put it at the top of my list for recommendations. Whether it’s a family meal, quick munch or a date night for two, you’ll not be disappointed! Worth every single penny - thank you for a great evening!

Eaten here a few times. Wasn't the best Chicken Dopiaza I've had so was a little disappointed. The mixed grill here are great and it has a very vibrant atmosphere. Really like the place

It’s lively, busy, and has the perfect grill atmosphere as you’d hope for. The menu is good for a grill, but the choices were all very similar, and somehow, despite the large menu, lacked a little variety. The small plates can be eaten as mains though, with great portion sizes! I shared a mixed grill, with the chicken tikka and fish pakora being the standout. The chutney tray was also immense, very tasty sauces! I had a roti which was just okay, being far too similar to the naan, and a tarka dal, again, nice, but nothing special and not really close to that you’d get from a curry house. The staff were friendly enough and all in all it’s a grill I would recommend.

Absolutely fantastic Desi-pub... Haven't been here for years, so was very surprised by the amount of space it has. A good choice of curry type meals and grills at a reasonable price. Good choice of draught drinks at the bar. You queue up to order food, and again to order drinks... Seems to work well and the food came out quite quickly. The only gripe was the weird "dance" music being played too loud that made it difficult to have a conversation... Follow up visit... Not as good. Felt really rushed, they brought out poppadoms but no plates, then brought out plates and the mains within moments. Would not recommend the salad, it was tiny, mostly lettuce. However, the background music was better and not as loud (shame about the group of "grown men" behind us who were shouting and messing about ...)
