About This Pub

Ah, The Crown & Anchor – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, it's all about that warm, inviting atmosphere where you can pop in for a cracking pint or settle in for some seriously tasty grub. The food gets rave reviews, especially the Sunday roasts and pub classics; folks are raving about how delicious and well-made everything is, with that homely touch that makes you want to come back. The beer selection is spot on too, with a mix of UK favourites and some new brews to keep things interesting – it's clear they've put thought into pleasing the beer lovers out there. And let's not forget the fun side, like their Thursday quiz nights, which sound like a laugh with a great host making it all the more enjoyable. On the flip side, it's tucked away in Chiswick, so if you're not in the area, it might not be the easiest spot to reach, and the evenings do wind down a tad early, which could cramp your style if you're hoping for a longer night. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for anyone after a good meal, a chat with friends, and that genuine pub feel – I'd say give it a go if you're in the mood for something reliable and cheerful.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is absolutely top-notch – friendly, attentive staff who make you feel right at home, just like chatting with mates down the local.
  • Fantastic food offerings, especially the pub classics and Sunday roasts; they're hearty, delicious, and made with quality ingredients that hit the spot every time.
  • A cracking selection of beers, with favourites from across the UK and some exciting rotational taps, perfect for any beer enthusiast looking for a proper pint.
  • Lovely atmosphere and events like the Thursday pub quiz, which adds a fun vibe and makes it a brilliant spot for gatherings or a relaxed night out.
  • They've got a charming upstairs private room for hire, ideal for celebrations or watching the big match with friends without the hustle and bustle.
Cons
  • It's a bit out of central London in Chiswick, so if you're not local, it might take a bit of effort to get there, though it's definitely worth the trip.
  • Opening hours wrap up fairly early, like 11pm on weekdays, which could be a downside if you're after a late-night session.

What a great pub which is hard to come bye these days. I thought it was a ‘Youngs’ pub but Duncan the landlord informed me that it is an independent and they can’t change the ‘Youngs’ sign as it’s listed! A lovely range of beer and I had a red ale which was gorgeous. I could only have the one as I was driving but they do the Guinness Zero which is my go to alcohol free drink. The food that was being served looked lovely and we will be back to try some. There are tables outside for the nice weather and I have to say it’s spotlessly clean inside with a nice ambiance. I highly recommend it and it’s nice to support a business on the high street. Duncan, the landlord, reminds me of the landlords of the yesteryear who is social and clearly cares for his business and customers. Service was also very nice and friendly which helps

I had a wonderful time here. The pie, chicken sandwich and sausage were all yummy. Vibes were great and staff were very kind. We went for quiz night on Thursday at 8 and Navin was really funny and a great host. Would highly recommend and is definitely worth the ride outside central London.
