About This Pub

Ah, The Cross Keys – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway in the heart of Liverpool, you know? From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that classic British pub vibe, all cosy and inviting, whether you're popping in for a casual catch-up or a family get-together. The staff are an absolute delight, always ready with a friendly chat and quick service, which really makes the place shine. Their menu's packed with tasty traditional fare – I'm talking proper pub grub that's hearty and satisfying, with options that even the kids will love, and it's all reasonably priced without breaking the bank. The drinks selection is another winner; they've got everything from smooth real ales to a variety of ciders and wines, and it's brilliant for those who fancy something lighter. Plus, the beer garden is a real treat, especially if you've got a furry friend in tow, and with events like live music and quiz nights, there's always a bit of buzz to keep things interesting. On the flip side, it can feel a smidge out of the way if you're not in the know, and while the prices are fair, they might not appeal to everyone tightening their purse strings. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening – I'd say give it a go if you're after that genuine pub experience without any fuss.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully welcoming and family-friendly, making it a top spot for catching up with mates or celebrating with loved ones.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from real ales and ciders to wines and cocktails, plus some great low or no-alcohol options for those watching their intake.
  • The food is spot on – think hearty traditional pub classics, delicious desserts, and even award-winning dishes for the little ones, all served up with friendly smiles from the staff.
  • It's got a lovely dog-friendly beer garden, perfect for a sunny afternoon pint, and they throw in free WiFi and events like live music and quiz nights for added fun.
Cons
  • It might feel a tad off the beaten path for some, especially if you're not familiar with the area around Old Hall Street, though it's just a short stroll from the town centre.
  • Prices are about average for Liverpool, which means it might not be the cheapest option if you're on a tight budget, but you get good value for what you pay.
  • A few folks have mentioned it's great for a quick visit rather than a long session, so it may not suit everyone looking for an all-night affair.

first time in decades I've been there, went to the quiz night it was good fun despite being 15th out of 15, good selection of beers all were good prices about average for that part of the city we will be back, can't comment on food as we didn't have any

Great little pub! Popped in for lunch, and the home-cooked food was absolutely lovely. The staff were incredibly friendly, which made the visit even better. Keep up the great work—this place is well worth a visit!

The Cross Keys is a little off the beaten track (unless you work on Old Hall Street) but it's well worth the short walk from the town centre. Its got a good selection of ales, ciders, lagers and wine to choose from. The pub grub on offer isn't unreasonably priced and is a decent portion. Excellent seating areas, from a heated roof garden with retractable roof to luxurious inside seating. The pool table has gone but its still worth a visit! Bar staff are a delight too.

Cross Keys has a very cosy atmosphere; the food is always of high quality and tasty; through the Star Order app or directly at the counter, the service is always very fast. The staff is always very attentive and kind to customers, providing excellent service.
