About This Pub

Oh, you know, chatting about pubs in Liverpool, the Pig & Whistle really stands out as a gem. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this lovely, inviting vibe that's full of character, where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome – even the dogs get treated like stars! Folks rave about the superb service and the fun events, like karaoke nights that bring a mix of young and old together for a good laugh. The drinks are spot on too, with mentions of tasty options like Plum Porter that hit the spot. It's cleverly positioned just off the beaten path, so you get that festive atmosphere without the crush of busier spots, which is a real plus for a chilled afternoon or evening. On the flip side, it's a shame there's no website or easy way to contact them, and it might not have much in the way of food if you're peckish. Still, with such high praise and a solid 4.5 rating, it's worth swinging by for a pint – you might just have a brilliant time and maybe even make a few new mates along the way.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is absolutely superb and super friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a welcoming atmosphere that's full of character, perfect for a relaxed pint or a fun night out with mates.
  • They treat dogs like royalty, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry companion.
  • Offers great drinks like that yummy Plum Porter, and events like karaoke nights that bring a real buzz to the place.
  • Tucked just off the main drag in Liverpool, it's easy to avoid the crowds while still being in the heart of things, giving it a festive and cosy vibe.
Cons
  • There's no website or phone number listed, so it might be a bit tricky to check opening times or get in touch beforehand.
  • The pub seems to focus mainly on drinks and atmosphere, with no mention of food options, which could be a downside if you're after a proper meal.
  • Operating from midday onwards might not suit early risers, as it's not open for a morning coffee or breakfast.

Proper pub. Superb service and super friendly. My dog was treated like a king and wanted to get behind the bar…

Should this be the best pub in Liverpool? I think it’s a contender, and it should definitely be on your pub stops in Liverpool. If you want the best experience, I suggest mid afternoon, when locals and regulars are stopping in. Maybe you will get lucky and meet Elton, a mischievous dog that drags his owner to the pub while out for a daily walk. There is as much fun in the evening. The bartender was singing karaoke while serving pints. He could hold a tune while serving a cask ale - I am sure that is a defined skill. It’s has a reasonably priced pint, kind staff and nice locals. You won’t regret stopping here. You will enjoy it. Then you decide how you want to cast your vote for the best pub in Liverpool on Google or TripAdvisor.

Great rebirth! A classic pub. A small skip from the strand lies this gem. Pop in and enjoy a rather festive atmosphere. Here's the thing. Many central pubs get rammed and are uncomfortable. Here, you have a Fantastic place just off the beaten path , yet, right in the heart of Liverpool. The staff aren't employed.. they own it.... They want to not just succeed, but provide a great night for you. They have several floors. My partner took his team after work and they had a lovely, colourful space where they could truly hang out. The music wasn't oppressive, they talked and laughed. Then they started in a group game. A pub for sure, but a social living room is a more apt description. Before you know it everyone is singing along and a part of a community. It's our escape from the norm. The prices are amazing as well. Don't let the outside fool you.
