About This Pub
You know, when I popped into the Lion Tavern, it really hit the spot as one of those classic Liverpool boozers that hasn't lost its soul. It's got this wonderful array of cask ales and beers that they mix up regularly, so you're always discovering something new, and the staff are spot on – proper friendly sorts who know their stuff and make you feel right at home. The place has kept all its original features, like the beautiful woodwork and glass, which gives it such a cosy, authentic feel, and there are comfy spots to relax in, whether you're in the bar or the lounge. They even do fresh pork pies and other little snacks that go down a treat with a pint. On the flip side, though, I have to mention that some of the spirits can be a bit of a shock to the wallet; one review mentioned a whiskey shot costing a fortune when you could nab a bottle for less elsewhere, so it's something to bear in mind if you're not just sticking to the beers. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine pub experience in the city centre, especially with its handy location near the station – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the niggles.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always up for a chat and happy to recommend a drink or two.
-
Comfortable seating in separate bar and lounge areas, perfect for settling in with mates for a proper catch-up.

Tasty bar snacks like fresh pork pies, which add a nice touch to the overall experience.

Some drinks, like certain whiskeys, can be eye-wateringly expensive – for instance, a shot might set you back as much as a whole bottle elsewhere.

Lovely pub, but be aware of how expensive they put their whiskeys too - Gold Spot, I was advised by barman was £65 a shot; you can (and I have) bought a bottle for £106! Be aware…..
Beautiful small traditional boozer. Great cask selection. Good boxed cider too which is fairly unusual for Liverpool.
This is a really nice, traditional pub. It has preserved much of the original interior, which gives it so much character. There is an excellent selection of beers. There is a separate bar and lounge, just like there should be in a trad pub. Comfortable and welcoming. Close to Moorfields railway station.
Last time I tried to visit here it was too crowded and I knew I had to return to see why it’s so popular. Fantastic city centre pub that has kept the real pub feeling alive with a great selection of cask ales and lots of original woodwork and ornate glass. Sat in a very comfortable back room with a nice music mix playing and enjoyed the ambience over a couple of real beers . Definitely on my city centre list now and looking forward to the next visit.
The Lion Tavern is probably my favourite pub in the city. Its got everything you could ask for in a local. Great selections of beers and ales changed regularly. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who are happy to help with any enquiries. Fresh pork pies available along with a plethora of other bar snacks. Seating available in the two snugs or propped up around the bar itself. It's also got a free jukebox with a selection of classic hits. Can't recommend it enough.
