About This Pub
Ah, The Cricketers – it's one of those classic British pubs that just feels like a proper escape from the hustle, nestled right on the village green. I have to say, it's got that warm, inviting charm that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in, with cosy nooks, comfortable seating, and even roaring fires on chillier days. The drinks are a real highlight; their cask ales are spot on, and the wine list is thoughtfully put together, so whether you're after a pint or something a bit fancier, you're sorted. The food's another strong point – it's all about fresh, local ingredients whipped up into creative dishes that nod to British classics while adding a touch of excitement, and they've got options for those with dietary needs too. Staff are lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. On the flip side, I've heard from a couple of people that the food isn't always consistent; one group had a mixed experience where some plates were brilliant and others fell a bit flat, so it might depend on what you order. And if you're hoping for a lively night, it can sometimes be on the quieter side, which is great for intimate chats but less so for a big group vibe. All in all, it's a gem for a relaxed day out or a casual meal, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go – just keep those expectations balanced for the grub!

Had a lovely lunch catch up with friend. Food was good. Not busy. We stayed on chatting undisturbed.
Great country pub serving a good selection of ales. Plenty of seating and space. Chilled comfortable atmosphere. Staff are freindly and helpful
Nice pub, décor and atmosphere throughout the inside has been done very tastefully with plenty of comfortable seating areas and all of the pictures on the walls suit the place. Dog friendly too. Will be coming back to sample the food.
Toilets for the gents were spotless.
Lovely setting and great layout and decor. Plenty of space between tables so not noisy and the staff were attentive, friendly and great.
Food was the let down. Best was the wild boar pasty, the fish and chips and the mini desert with a hot drink is a great idea.
Alas there were 5 of us and the other food options were either bland, overcooked or tough.
We have been here a few times and the food and service never disappoints. The menu has a creative flair and changes with the seasons so there is always something new to discover. I had the parsnip and pear soup which was delicious followed by the lamb of shoulder which was melt-in-the-mouth amazing. My boyfriend had the steak, ale and mushroom pie which was very tasty. The staff are always attentive and welcoming and the interior is a combination of cosy, country and modern. This has quickly become our favourite place to eat and we look forward to our next visit.
