About This Pub
Ah, The Green Dragon – it's one of those hidden gems that really warms the cockles on a lazy weekend. I have to say, the pizzas are spot on; folks rave about the fresh, moreish toppings and that garlic bread that's hard to resist, making it a brilliant choice if you're in the mood for something tasty without the fuss. The outdoor area is just ace for soaking up the countryside air, and inside, it's all about that cosy, old-school pub feel with friendly faces behind the bar pouring a cracking selection of real ales. On the flip side, it's a bit tucked away in a quiet village, so it might not be the easiest spot to pop into on a whim, and with only five days open a week, you'll want to check the times first. All in all, it's a solid pick for a relaxed get-together, especially if you fancy good food and drinks in a proper historical setting – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're nearby, but maybe plan ahead to avoid any disappointments.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The pizzas are absolutely fantastic, with fresh flavours and options like Diavola that keep you coming back for more – it's become a go-to spot for a proper Italian twist in a British pub.
-
The outdoor space is a real treat, especially on a sunny day; it's set in a charming little village with plenty of seating to enjoy a pint or meal al fresco.
-
It's got that cosy, historical vibe from being a 17th-century family-owned pub, making you feel right at home with its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.
-
They offer a great selection of real ales, perfect for anyone who appreciates a good, traditional pint in a relaxed countryside setting.
Cons
-
It might be a bit out of the way if you're not local, tucked away in a quiet village, so getting there could take some effort unless you're in the Hertfordshire area.
-
The opening hours seem a tad limited, with the pub only open five days a week, which means you might have to plan around closures if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit.
-
From what I've seen, the food focus is heavily on pizzas, so if you're after a wider variety of pub grub, it might not hit the spot every time.

Great pub with a really nice outdoor space, set in a little village. 10/10 for a pint, didn’t have any food
Fantastic fresh flavoursome pizza and the garlic bread is so moreish you could have it as a main. This is the go to pizza spot... Never disappoints.
Excellent country pub with a fantastic selection of real ales. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Very freindly staff and owner. Highly recommend a visit.
Pizza’s are amazing best I’ve had in a long time. Seating area outside is also nice. I’ve been a couple of time now and have never been disappointed. For those people who haven’t been yet. Please try.
Myself and partner stopped of at the green dragon in Flaunden after a work colleague had recommended it, for its Pizza. I ordered a Diavola and a prosciutto and funghi and sat outside in the garden. I must say we will definitely be coming back the Pizza's were FANTASTIC, the garden was nice to sit in overall a lovely place 👍
