About This Pub
Ah, The Coach & Horses – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Croxley Green. I have to say, the setting is just lovely, perched on that famous village green with views that make you want to linger over a pint. The atmosphere is spot on for catching up with mates or enjoying a family meal, and they've really nailed the food side of things with hearty, fresh dishes that use local ingredients – think comforting classics with a bit of flair that leave you satisfied. The drinks selection is another winner, with a great range of ales and wines that cater to everyone. Plus, the outdoor areas are fantastic for sunnier days, and it's so welcoming for dogs after a stroll. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few grumbles about the place needing a good clean, especially the toilets, which can take away from the charm. And service isn't always top-notch; there was that story of someone not getting attended to after a tiring event, so it might vary depending on when you go. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, but keep in mind it has its ups and downs – worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a great time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The location is absolutely spot on, right on the longest village green in England with stunning views that make you feel like you're in the countryside without having to venture far.
-
It's got a really warm and welcoming vibe, perfect for families, friends, or even popping in for a quiet pint by the fire.
-
The food is simple, tasty, and hearty, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients that give it that authentic pub feel with a modern twist.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of cask ales, continental beers, and a cracking wine list to suit all tastes.
-
Outdoor seating areas are brilliant, especially for families with a play area, and it's super dog-friendly after a nice walk.
Cons
-
Some folks have mentioned it needs a thorough clean, particularly the toilets, which can put a bit of a dampener on things.
-
Service can be hit or miss; one person had a rough time not getting served properly after a long day, so it might not always be as cheerful as hoped.
-
The car park fills up quickly at busy times, which could mean a bit of hassle if you're driving over.
-
A couple of reviews pointed out that while it's generally welcoming, there might be the odd off day that leaves you wanting more.

A "country pub" in Croxley Green. No need to drive for miles (unless you don't live in Croxley Green) to find a a quaint pub in the countryside. The pub sits on the longest village green in England with views to match.
Cheerful service and a fair display of beers.
Remember to use or lose you local pub.
Yesterday after spending all day taking to the general public on a event on their village green i entered this establishment wishing to have a meal and a well needed cold drink, I was met by five people, four were dealing with the glasses and one was taking payment from a customer, during this time I was totally blanked from all of the staff but not from a gentleman who was sitting my side of the bar who did past comment on my lack of service, respect to him.
Of course I just walked out and was kindly served in the next pub along.
Highly recommend. The food was delicious and the staff friendly. Young girl serving us was exceptional. Will be back!
Very dog friendly which is good after a long walk through Whippendell Woods and Croxley Green. Staff are great, friendly and welcoming. Menu looks good and there's live music.
Needs a deep clean and so does the toilets, which let it down to 3⭐
A lovely friendly pub. Very popular with the locals of Croxley Green but you’re made to feel very welcome on arrival.
Seating outside front garden & also out the back garden which is nice, but over looks the car park.
The car park can get full at peak times but not normally a problem to find somewhere local to park.
Dogs are allowed both inside & outside and on the few occasions we have visited there has always been many dogs here.
The vibe seems really chill & relaxed.
Food is good, I always go for the superfood salad as it’s simply the most amazing thing which sounds strange for a salad but it’s amazing!
