About This Pub

Ah, The Craig Dhu in Paisley – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local gem, with its historic roots going back to the early 20th century, complete with those lovely exposed beams and arched windows that give it such a snug, inviting feel. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food really steals the show; people rave about the hearty meals like beef pie and burgers that are tasty, well-priced, and even have options for dogs, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your four-legged mate. The staff often get high marks for being friendly and making everyone feel comfortable, and it's a top spot for catching live sports like the Women's Euros – just book a table to secure your seat. On the flip side, though, there was that one review about a cook with a bit of a grumpy attitude, which is a shame as it can put a damper on things, and some have mentioned the beer choices being a bit limited, so if you're after a wide variety, you might want to keep that in mind. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out, with more positives than negatives, but like any pub, it's worth going in with realistic expectations for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think tasty dishes like hunters chicken and fish and chips that hit the spot without breaking the bank.
  • Staff are generally brilliant and make you feel right at home, with friendly chats and top-notch service that leaves you smiling.
  • It's super dog-friendly, offering free treats and options for your furry friends, which is a lovely touch for us who bring our pets along.
  • The historic vibe with its low ceiling beams and arched windows gives it a real cosy, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • They show live sports like the Women's Euros, so it's a great place to grab a seat and cheer on the teams with a pint in hand.
Cons
  • There have been a few grumbles about the odd staff member having a bad day, like that cook who wasn't too welcoming in one review.
  • The beer selection can be a bit limited, with some folks missing out on favourites like IPAs, so it might not suit everyone.
  • Opening hours are straightforward, but if you're after something beyond the standard pub grub, it could feel a tad predictable.

Cook with a bad attitude, visited for the last time friday lunchtime for a family meal. One of our orders was cheeseburger fries, upon receiving it there was no nacho cheese sauce or crispy onions on top. Went to the bar and the bald headed Cook was there glaring at me as if expecting it. He was immediately confrontational, firstly he told me that I was wrong, then he blamed supply chain issues and then stated that if I didn't want it to order something else. How in this day and age can you drive customers away? Will not be returning.

A must visit for a Pint of Greene King Level Head, in a special glass I may add. Another bonus is the fact the pub is Dog Friendly with a variety of dog treats on offer, and free!

Amazing food, great prices and staff couldn't be any better!! We got the speciality hunters chicken and speciality fish n chips as well as sides/starters, highly recommend! We'll definitely be back, forgot to get the two ladies names but they were lovely and made us feel really comfortable, thank you!

Great atmosphere! Had a really delicious meal. I had the beef pie (the gravey was superb) and my boyfriend had the burger - the chips were super fresh and crisp!). Limited choice of beer - they didn't have an IPA. The strongbow black current cider that was on tap that i had was amazing. Service was a tad slow since there was just one waitress and one bartender for the entire place. It was a bit of a busy since the was a football game one. Service was top notch otherwise. Highly reccomend this friendly local neighborhood pub!
