About This Pub

Ah, Lumins in Paisley – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this cosy, spacious vibe that's just perfect for kicking back with mates, whether you're there for the sports on the telly or to try out their cracking cocktails and that smooth house ale everyone's raving about. The food's a winner too; their burgers and sharing plates sound absolutely spot-on, with generous portions that leave you satisfied. And the staff? They're a friendly bunch, always up for a chat and quick to suggest what's best on the menu. But, let's be honest, it's not all smooth sailing – there was that one nightmare experience where an order went missing and getting hold of them was like trying to catch smoke. That said, with most folks giving it high marks, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just maybe stick to eating in rather than ordering out to avoid any hassle. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a lovely spot to relax with friends over a pint or a cocktail.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of cocktails and their own smooth ale, which is perfect for a casual evening out.
  • The food is a real highlight – think tasty burgers, pasta, and sharing plates with generous portions that hit the spot.
  • Staff are cheerful and helpful, always ready with recommendations or a friendly chat to make you feel right at home.
  • It's family-friendly too, with options that suit everyone, whether you're popping in for a quick bite or to catch a footy game.
Cons
  • There have been some issues with orders not arriving as promised, which can be frustrating if you're relying on their service.
  • Customer service isn't always reliable, like when they stop answering the phone, leaving you without a way to sort things out.
  • The place seems a bit disorganised at times, with mixed reports on how smoothly things run, especially for takeaways.
  • No website or online presence makes it trickier to check menus or book ahead, which might put some folks off.

AVOID AT ALL COST!! Placed an order which never arrived. Was told on the phone after 1hr it was on its way and would be with me in 10 minutes. Stopped answering their phones shortly after. Order never arrived and no way to contact them if they choose not to answer phones. Must have called over 20 times to tell them to leave the order as I don’t want it anymore but still nothing. It is 9.15 and still not arrived. Won’t ever order from them again or recommend. Appalled.

I had bought a Groupon voucher for burgers and a beer for 2. We had been in before for drinks and saw the burgers so had wanted to try it. The server was very cheerful, told us which were best to try. I asked how the voucher worked, do we just pay for the upgrades, he said well I wouldn't have but now that you've mentioned it... So I joked with him that to just pretend I never said that. He recommended the Scottish burger as it has the most wonderful pulled pork over the top, so we both decided to try that. It looked delicious, and enjoyed it, but I wasn't until halfway through I realised there was no pulled pork on it, and also there were no onion rings like it described on the menu. Once we had finished it, the guy came back over and asked how it was, I told him it was delicious but mentioned the missing items, he apologised for this, he said he didn't know why it would be missing. We went to the bar to ask for the bill, my cola was extra as I was driving and my partner had the 2 beers as part of the voucher. I wasn't expecting it to be much, only a couple of quid, but it was more, so I asked the server, a different person, what was included on the bill? As it wasn't a paper bill like in most restaurants or bars that serve food, she went over to the guy who originally served us and he told her, so she repeated to me, that the bill was for all the extras we had. So even though he apparently doesn't charge usually for the difference in the voucher and the extras on the burger, he did that time even though half of them were missing! So I left in a bit of a huff. Shame. I would have given this 5 stars, if it weren't for that, and I would also have returned again for a meal because I literally live up the road from it and I have a night out in Paisley every couple of weeks. I'm not dissing the food at all, it really was very good.

Scott Haddow and Jordan McMurrough recently took over Lumins Bar on Causeyside Street in Paisley. It’s warm, welcoming and spacious. Inside, you’ll find the Boar N' Cow – Lumins’ secret food offering! Headed up by revered local chef, Robert Watson, the gastropub-style menu covers pasta, burgers, pizza, loaded fries, wraps, wings, shawarma and more. Our lunch included Haggis Bon Bons, Salt & Chilli Burger, Veggie Pizza, Scotch Burger, and Cajun Chicken Pasta. As we have come to expect from Robert, the food was first class and all three of us were absolutely stuffed. With a name like Boar N’ Cow, you have to expect meat-based dishes, but there are vegetarian options that haven't just been thrown together to tick a box. The Veggie Pizza was outstanding. So now you know… Lumins does do food, and they do it brilliantly!

Spent the day with friends here and watched some footy games. Great selection of Cocktails and they even have their own Ale .... ' which is lovely and smooth ' . Only ordered 1 main dish , which was the Lumins Signature Burger ' was very good' and decided to pick a few light bites to share. Portions were great and tasty. Bar staff were friendly and energetic. Good mix of music as well. One of the staff told me about the Karaoke on a Saturday as well , so I know where I'm going this weekend. All in all a breath of fresh air to Paisley. My new go to for sure!!
