About This Pub
Ah, The Coborn in Bow – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away between Mile End and Bow, where you can pop in for a pint or settle in for some decent food. From what I've gathered, the grub really shines with options like the half chicken roast or haddock and chips, which folks rave about for their flavour and hearty portions – it's that comforting, homey taste you expect from a good British spot. The team behind the bar are brilliant too, always making you feel welcome and going the extra mile, which adds to the relaxed, neighbourhood charm that's ideal for a casual meet-up or even an office do. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; a few have mentioned the roast meat can sometimes be a bit dry, and the veg doesn't always match up in quantity, plus you might wait a tad longer for your meal, so it's worth bearing that in mind if you're peckish and in a hurry. All in all, though, it's a solid choice with a 4.4 rating backing it up – I'd say give it a go for the atmosphere alone, as it's got that genuine pub spirit that makes you want to linger a while.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is generally spot on, with tasty options like the roast and haddock and chips that leave you feeling satisfied.
-
The staff are an absolute delight – friendly, accommodating, and always up for a chat, making every visit feel welcoming.
-
It has that classic British pub atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with friends in a cosy, neighbourhood setting.
-
A great spot for events or just dropping in, with a solid vibe that's quintessentially British and ideal for casual outings.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be a bit hit or miss, like the roast rump occasionally coming out a tad dry, which might disappoint if you're after perfection.
-
Food service can take a little longer than expected, so if you're in a rush, it might not be the best choice for a quick bite.
-
Portions of veg with the roasts could be more generous, as a few folks have noted it's a bit light on that front.

Food is pretty good, the people who work there lovely and the pub is very nice :)
The roast is of decent size (a lot of meat, vegetables less so, to be honest): I suggest to go for the half chicken roast.
The scottish egg was good too :)
Sunday roast was ok. Good cabbage, roast rump was slightly dry and potatoes were ok. Guinness was not bad though.

As my local in Bow, I absolutely love this pub. It is a gem. The food and atmosphere here is the quintessential British vibe you want.
Whether it’s for a few drinks or food, I highly recommend The Coborn.
I’ve come here for food a few times and have always been impressed. The haddock and chips is delicious, the sausage and mash is hearty, the burger hits the spot. Just all round the menu offers great options.
The atmosphere and design of the place are fantastic! Our food took a little while to arrive, but we weren't in a rush. It was clear that the food was delivered with love. A big thank you to Juliet and the team for being so accommodating! We appreciated it!
Had a fab office Xmas do at The Coborn. The food was very tasty, with lots of menu choices (including vegetarian), the staff were super friendly - it has that wonderful neighbourhood vibe about it. We used The Snug, which was beautifully decorated and gave us easy access to their well stocked bar (and they make a great margarita!).
