About This Pub
Ah, the Morgan Arms in Bow – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its mix of fabulous food and that cosy, community feel. From what I've gathered from chats with others, the grub is a real highlight; they've got seasonal dishes and specials like their new Prix Fixe menu that sound spot on for a midweek treat. The service is always spot on too, with staff who make you feel like you're catching up with old mates. It's got all the nice touches, like being dog-friendly and having events that bring people together, plus it's dead easy to get to. On the flip side, a few have mentioned that the vegan choices or some roast dinner elements didn't quite hit the mark, and the ale selection can be a tad sparse now and then. Still, with such glowing feedback overall, I'd say it's well worth swinging by for a relaxed pint and a bite – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely fabulous, with seasonal ingredients and exciting new menus that make every visit feel fresh and delightful.
-
Service is warm and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a charming atmosphere with a historic feel, plenty of space, and it's wonderfully dog-friendly for those who bring their furry friends.
-
Great location near tube stations like Mile End and Bow Road, making it super easy to pop in after a day out.
-
They host fun events and specials, like Wing Wednesday or Friday Prosecco deals, which add a real community vibe and keep things lively.
Cons
-
Some menu items, like the vegan options or certain sides in the roast dinners, haven't quite lived up to expectations for a few visitors.
-
The selection of draught ales can be a bit limited at times, which might disappoint ale enthusiasts.
-
It can get busy, and while it's generally not too noisy, that might still be a factor if you're after a completely quiet spot.

The vegan selection was disappointing, so I didn't have high hopes, but this was the best meal I have had all year. I was dancing as I was eating cause it was so blooody nice! I had the mushroom hoison spring roll for starter, and the tomato salad for main. .. way more then just a salad, the vegan cheese was amazing, the flavours were fresh and rich all at the same time. I will deffo be back!!!
We were dining on a week night. The food was delicious, the service is very friendly and the atmosphere is just right. We had a very nice dinner, highly recommended.
I love this place, and I come back here every once in a while. Friendly staff, amazing food, gorgeous interior, dog-friendly, and somehow not as loud as other pubs even though it can get busy - 100% recommend.
Gorgeous pub. Lots of space, big plate glass windows with lots of sunlight, excellent food, friendly service. Dog friendly. Has games. Features a striking, curved solid wood bar. No TV or music, so excellent place to relax and talk. Full marks. (Team - there was only one draught ale "on", out of three nice ones that were potentially available. Without the Golden Hen, we'd have been sad).
The food was good, I had a roast beef dinner, and the vegetables could have been a better choice. There is no need for kale with a roast, and whatever the white thing was on the bottom of the food, it needed to be of more substance. The rest of it was good. The service was great. The roast let it down, in my opinion. We spent a lot of money on drinks, hence spending a lot.
