About This Pub

Oh, what a treat The Wentworth Arms is – it's one of those pubs that just pulls you in with its old-school charm and that genuine community spirit you don't find everywhere these days. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by smiling staff who make you feel like a regular, and the drinks are spot on, with a solid range of beers and cocktails that won't break the bank. The events lineup is brilliant too; whether it's bingo, live music, or karaoke, there's always a buzz that keeps the night lively and full of laughs. It's got that historical edge with tales of the Kray Twins, which adds a fun layer to your visit, and being so close to the station makes it dead easy to pop in. That said, it's purely a drinks-focused spot, so if you're hoping for a bite to eat, you'll have to head elsewhere, and the beer choices lean towards keg rather than cask, which might not suit everyone. All in all, it's a top choice for a relaxed pint or a proper night out with mates, as long as you're up for the no-frills fun – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's warm, welcoming, and full of that classic East End charm that makes you feel right at home.
  • The staff are brilliant; they're friendly and go the extra mile to make sure everyone has a great time.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, with top-notch beers and cocktails at reasonable prices.
  • There's always something going on, like lively bingo nights, live music, or karaoke, which keeps things fun and engaging.
  • Its location near Mile End Station is spot on for a quick stop or a full evening out, and the historical ties add a nice bit of character.
Cons
  • It's a wet-led pub, so no food on offer, which might leave you a bit peckish if you're after a proper meal.
  • The beer selection is mostly keg options, so if you're a fan of cask ales, you might be a tad disappointed.
  • It can get quite packed, especially with the community events, so space might be tight on busier nights.

🚇Mile End 🍺 £5.60 Madri ❤️ East End values are alive and well. The Wentworth Arms is located in a quiet backstreet just off busy Mile End Road. The nearest Tube station is Mile End which is just at the end of Eric Street. The pub was built in 1864 and is the last remnant of Victorian London on this street. This corner pub was originally a Charringtons pub, If you look closely at the leaded windows you’ll see green stained glass which was a Charringtons hallmark. Charringtons Brewery started life in Bethnal Green in 1757. The Anchor Brewery by Stepney Green Tube was their last brewery in this area, some of the original offices buildings remain on the corner of Mile End Road and Cephas Avenue. This is a small but perfectly formed boozer that has one bar and a beer garden at the rear. The pub is traditionally decorated with pale wainscotted walls that are adorned by a few prints and photos, my favourite being a black and white photo of the regulars off on a Jolly Boys Outing. The servery is a good size, to the left is an oche and dart board. The seating is a mix of upholstered pews and circular stools around solid wood tables, there are also a few high level stools if you want to prop up the bar. There is also a Fruity and a decent Jukebox. The beer line up was solid and had a bit of something for everyone but no cask. I settled on a pint of Madri, my pint was excellent, price point was below average. The pub doesn’t have a food menu, between me and you, it doesn’t need one. I last visited here in July 2017, I’m happy to report that not much has changed. We arrived at 12pm on a Saturday lunchtime and received a warm welcome and were made to feel right at home. We got chatting to one of the regulars who had drunk in here for years, he had us in stitches, then his mate walked in and the banter went up a notch. There were a few other punters at the back of the bar who were clearly enjoying their lunchtime pints. This pub puts on loads of entertainment and events which continues to galvanise the loyal locals and attract those who need a bit of a push to get out and about. Throughout the month there are Live music and Karaoke nights, Drag Bingo plus Loads of community events throughout the year. When I last walked out of these doors, I said to myself “now that’s a proper East End boozer”. On this visit, I did exactly the same, both my mates said “what a great pub that is” the_wentworth_arms is proof that East End values of hospitality, community and sharp wit are alive and well in this wonderful establishment. This is an outstanding pub. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 02.12.23 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

A great pub close to Mile End station. The Wentworth Arms is a real gem! Very much a local pub, packed to the brim with thirsty (and hungry) punters. A good range of well known keg beers on offer, sorry to the cask ale drinkers. A genuinely good fun pub.

Truly a hidden gem in Mile End. A proper old style community pub, run for the locals and with the community in mind. No food, no frills, just good fun, free flowing tunes, drinks and celebrating every occasion available. Something happening most nights, ladies darts on Monday, live music, karaoke, quiz...always a great East End welcome, just feel part of the "family" as soon as you walk through the door. Warm and fuzzy...got to love it.

Wow just wow! I found this little gem not too long again and haven’t left since! The atmosphere and staff are unbeatable and prices are so reasonable. If you’re looking for a little pre drink vibe before your night out or a night at the pub with all your best mates this is the place. Don’t get me started on the themed nights always so much effort that goes in and it doesn’t go unnoticed! 10/10 would recommend!
