About This Pub

Ah, Little Driver Bow – it's one of those classic East End pubs that just feels like a proper local hideaway on Bow Road. From what I've gathered, it's got this warm, community spirit that really shines through, especially with the staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for the big game. The live sports setup is top-notch, with loads of screens broadcasting everything from football to horse racing, so it's ideal if you're keen on cheering on your team with a cold pint in hand. And let's not forget the prices – they're refreshingly reasonable for London, making it easy to enjoy a few rounds without worrying about the tab. The garden area's a real gem too, offering a relaxed outdoor spot with booths for when the weather's on your side, and it's great that it's dog-friendly and accessible, adding to that inclusive feel. On the flip side, though, it's not the place for real ale enthusiasts, as the selection is more about keg beers, and things can get a bit lively with all the sports action, which might not suit if you're after a peaceful evening. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back night out, balancing that authentic pub charm with a few areas where it could perhaps branch out a tad more – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, and you might just find yourself returning for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in – it's like chatting with old mates behind the bar.
  • It's a brilliant spot for watching live sports, with plenty of screens showing everything from football to boxing, so you won't miss a moment of the action.
  • Prices are spot on for London, with affordable drinks that won't break the bank, making it a great choice for a casual night out.
  • The garden out the back is a lovely surprise, offering a fun outdoor space with booths and tables, perfect for enjoying a pint on a sunny day.
  • It's dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, which adds to the community vibe and makes it inclusive for everyone.
Cons
  • The beer selection leans towards keg options rather than real ales, so if you're a fan of traditional brews, you might find it a bit lacking.
  • It can get quite focused on sports and live events, which might make it noisier than you'd like if you're after a quiet catch-up with friends.
  • While it's generally well-managed, the pub's online info seems a tad repetitive and not always up-to-date, which could leave you wanting more details before heading over.

🚇 Bow Road 🍺 £6.50 Cruzcampo The Little Driver is located on busy Bow Road in Bow in the East End. The nearest Tube is Bow Road. This pub was built in 1869. The multiple disused doorways hint to its once multiroom past. The large window on the right was once a grand carved wood entrance with etched glass. This pub’s unique name has links to the railways. Up until 1949, Bow Road Station was located just two doors down where the William Hill bookies is. All of the pub’s previous swing signs had a train on them but I can’t find a direct link to the name Little Driver. This is a good size one bar pub that was refurbed back in 2022. The severy is centrally located and dominates the landscape. The decor is traditional mixing dark wood panelling, ornate woodwork and conventional furniture including lots of poser tables. One loss to the pub’s decor is a fantastic ‘Hoare & Co.’s Celebrated Stout’ mirror, this has been replaced by a huge Tv screen. There are a couple of fruit machines plus a dartboard if you fancy a game of arrows. At the rear of the pub is a sizeable beer garden with booths kitted out with more Tv’s. The beer line up is selection of familiar brands but no cask ale or London brews. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was decent enough, price point was high, this is a @craftunionpubs boozer where it normally costs a little less for a pint. My pint was served in a plastic glass, this is a match day policy as West Ham were playing at home. There is no food served here. I arrived at 11.30am on a chilly Saturday morning in November. The pub was quiet, there was one other punter and one member of staff gearing up for the day’s trade. I got chatting to a local fella who was telling me all about his fishing exploits abroad. This pub regularly gets busy and is frequented by a loyal local crowd, the last time I was in it was packed to the rafters. The Little Driver is a true East End pub which will appeal to those who want a down to earth traditional pub experience. If you love your sport, local pub vibes, not after smashed avacado, you’ll love it here. 📅 30th November 2024 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

Popped in early, around midday, for a soft drink and a packet of crisps, and had a lovely welcome from the lady behind the bar. What a star - she was friendly and told us about the garden out the back as the weather was great. There's no substitute for friendly, engaged staff, and this place seems to have it. Popular with football fans by the looks of it, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely pop in if you're passing. It's a stones throw from Bow Road tube station.

This is a West Ham United pub with Irons memorabilia on the walls. Prices are cheap for London which was a nice surprise. Great for sports as there are loads of TVs. The garden is what sets it apart though. A really fun space out the back with chairs, tables and a number of booths all with their own TV. Didn't go at night but they have festoon lighting so it is probably good on warm evenings too.

The Little Driver on Bow Road, close to the underground station is the most fine East End boozer. An enthusiastic following for the Cheltenham festival being broadcast over the many screens. Plenty of beer on offer from the keg but not one for the Real ale lovers (as far as I could see). This is a pub to meet with your mates, have a chinwag, put the world to rights and enjoy your company. A great place for a beer.
