About This Pub
Ah, The Coal Hole – it's one of those classic London spots that just draws you in with its rich history and welcoming vibe. Picture this: you're tucked away in this dimly lit space with dark wood panelling, feeling like you've wandered into a bygone era of song and supper clubs, where folks like Gilbert and Sullivan might have popped in for a tipple. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the beers are a real highlight – that extensive range of hand-pumped options means you're in for some top-quality pints that go down a treat. And the food? Well, it's proper pub grub done right; I'm talking mouthwatering fish and chips or a pie that's as comforting as a chat with an old mate. The service really shines too – stories of friendly faces like Valeria or the hosts who make birthdays special show they're all about making your visit memorable, especially if you're with a group. But let's keep it real, it's not perfect; a few mentions of it being a bit nippy inside might have you reaching for your jacket, and while the Sunday roasts are generally decent, there are tales of overcooked bits or uneven portions that could leave you wanting a tad more. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a taste of London's pub scene without the fuss – just head in with an open mind, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

It's great value for money, with solid portions and prices that won't break the bank, perfect for a casual night out.
Cons
-
The pub can get a bit chilly inside, so you might need to keep your coat on, which isn't ideal on a colder day.
-
Some dishes, like the Yorkshire puddings, can be overcooked, and portions might not always be even across options.
-
It has that typical London pub vibe that appeals to tourists, which might make it feel a tad generic if you're after something more unique.

Another typical London pub that appeals to tourists with the usual menu, but not to be ignored.
The dark wood, low lit interior always hits the mark, and the extensive selection of hand-pumped beers shouldn’t be ignored.
Yes, the menu has the fish and chips, sausages or a choice of pies and mash, and my party thought them well presented and generous, if not the most tasty.
My chicken schnitzel was too dry - a sauce would improve it instead of a patty of garlic butter (and I had two)
Absolutely loved my experience at The Coal Hole! The food was incredible - every bite was a delight! But what really made it stand out was the amazing service by Valeria. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The vibes were spot on - cozy and welcoming. Can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious menu, highly recommend!"
Very kind and accommodating staff. We brought a group of 25 students and they all loved it! Be sure to try the fish and chips ☺️
Booked a table here prior to taking my Daughter to watch Mean Girls at The Savoy Theatre.
It was her 15th Birthday and third visit to The Coal Hole, she loves the food here.
Excellent service, very good value for money and fantastic food.
A special Thank You to our hostess today for the chocolate sauce message she wrote on the desert plate for Chloe on her birthday!.
Pub was quite cold so I needed to keep my coat on to eat.
Went for Sunday Roast which was ok. The Yorkshire puddings were over cooked, the veg was cooked nicely and the nut roast was decent enough.
However the chicken roast dinner has 2 huge chicken pieces, compared with the small portion of nut roast. I think this could be looked at. Prices for both are similar so should be equal.
Drinks had a good choice.
