About This Pub
Ah, The Chindit Inn – what a gem in Wolverhampton for anyone who appreciates a proper pint. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, unpretentious feel that makes you want to settle in for a chat. The real ale is spot on, with a changing range that's been consistently excellent, earning them that long-standing Cask Marque accolade – it's like they really know their stuff when it comes to beer. I love how it's named after the Chindit Regiment; it adds a bit of character and history that you don't find everywhere, making it feel special without trying too hard. The garden area's a nice surprise too, all clean and tidy with a few plants to make it welcoming for an outdoor sip. On the flip side, though, the decor is pretty straightforward – think basic and functional rather than fancy, so if you're in the mood for something more polished, it might not quite hit the mark. It can get a bit quiet mid-week, which is brilliant if you fancy a peaceful evening, but if you're after that energetic crowd, you might need to time your visit for weekends or when there's live music on. Overall, it's a reliable spot for a good drink and a relaxed time, and with such positive feedback from folks who've been there, I'd say it's well worth popping in for a taste of what makes it stand out in the local scene.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The real ale is top-notch and well-kept, with a great selection that keeps things interesting – it's earned them that Cask Marque award for over 20 years, which is no small feat!
-
The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed chat, especially if you're into history with its unique name tied to the Chindit Regiment.
-
There's a tidy garden area with plants that adds a bit of charm, perfect for enjoying a drink outdoors on a nice day.
-
It's got a good vibe for match days in Wolverhampton, never getting too crowded, and they offer fresh cobs which is a nice touch for a quick bite.
Cons
-
The decor is quite basic and no-frills, so if you're after something more stylish or modern, it might feel a bit dated.
-
It can be quiet during the week, which is great for peace and quiet but might not suit those looking for a lively buzz every visit.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, with a typical close around 7pm, which could mean missing out on evening plans if you're hoping for a late one.

Didn't have food. Had a couple of HPAs. Lovely clean ale 🍺 Garden/yard was lovely and tidy with a few plants about the place. My sister and I visited Tuesday as our grandfather was a Chindit. Although it wasn't busy, it was welcoming and friendly. Will visit again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My favourite match day pub in Wolverhampton. Good atmosphere, but never too busy. Good choice of well-kept real ale. Fresh cobs available
This nice little pub, the only one in the UK to bear this name, takes its name from the Chindit Regiment, with whom the first landlord served.
It has a changing range of real ales, and is the only pub in Wolverhampton to have been awarded the cask marque consecutively for over 20 years.
Very popular on match days when Wolves are playing at home.
This two roomed corner pub is very popular with the local community and it's not hard to see why. Good beer (five cask ales), wines and spirits, live music and a friendly atmosphere welcome the visitor. Can be quiet in the week, but very busy of a weekend and when there's a band playing.
Visited The Chindit for the second time in ten years on Thursday 21 February 2019. The place has four real ales on all lighter coloured and I tried a half of guest beer , Osset Blonde (£1.65 for a half pint) which was of reasonable quality. The place is still very basic in decor , having two rooms and a rear yard with tables.
The barman was friendly and helpful , trying to help me sort out the WiFi link. Luckily another friendly customer was able to help me look up an opening time for a nearby food outlet.
The toilets are in a corridor at the rear . Again like the rest of the Chindit they were basic but ok.
The place might be different later at night but it feels friendly but tired, however if updated it easily become 'overdone' .
