About This Pub
Ah, The Bull and Butcher – it's one of those pubs that really tries to bring back that old-school community feel, you know? From what I've gathered, it's all about that genuine hospitality, where the team goes out of their way to make sure everyone feels welcome, whether you're nipping in for a solo pint or meeting up with the gang. The food stands out as a real highlight; they're big on local sourcing, like getting their meat from award-winning suppliers, and the menu's full of comforting, well-flavoured dishes that hit the spot without breaking the bank. Plus, their drinks range is thoughtfully put together, with options for everyone, and if you're into real ales, they've got the experts on hand to keep it all in tip-top shape. But let's be honest, it's not all roses – there've been a few grumbles about things like dirty glasses or a subpar garden area, which could spoil an otherwise nice visit, especially if it's your first time. Overall, though, with a solid 4.3 rating from folks who've been there, I'd say it's worth a go if you're in the area; just keep expectations realistic, and you'll likely have a cracking time swapping stories over a good meal and a chat.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always smiling, super friendly, and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is spot on; it's home-cooked with locally sourced ingredients, like that award-winning meat from Padbury, and the flavours are just proper hearty and satisfying.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from real ales to hand-picked wines, and they're always keeping an eye on trends to keep things fresh.
-
It's a cosy, welcoming spot that's perfect for catching up with mates or family, with a real community vibe that makes you want to linger.
-
They host events and have a nice atmosphere for a good old pub experience, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or a full meal.
Cons
-
There have been a few slip-ups with service, like getting a drink in a dirty glass or a flat lager, which can really put a dampener on things.
-
The garden area's been described as a bit of a mess in some visits, so it's not ideal if you're hoping for a tidy outdoor spot to relax.
-
It seems like consistency might be an issue occasionally, especially since one review mentioned the place had only just reopened and wasn't quite up to scratch yet.

Popped in here on a Sunday afternoon, served a gin and tonic in a filthy glass, no choice how much tonic, whole bottle in along with a flat lager, garden was also disgusting. Real shame considering it has only just opened again.
We stopped in Fenny Stratford on our canal boat holiday and found the Bull and Butcher was a great place for a meal and beers. We enjoyed the food and service! Very nice pub!
Good little boozer with decent food and events aswell as brilliant staff
What an amazing Mother’s Day had The Bull & Butcher Fenny. A lovely bunch of flowers and a gravy shot glass with my name on it…. Thanks to Tab, Demi, Paul and all other staff, you made a great day even better. Thank you all….
Now for the food….. numerous roast dinners were had and I must say…. The food was spectacular, the gravy was delicious (and yes I had a whole gravy boat as shots)…. So stuffed I had to be rolled and carried home…. Thank for an amazing day…..

Couldn’t wish for a better local….
Excellent cozy pub.
The food is of excellent quality for its reasonable price. The side salad on my homemade lasagna was fresh and not of the pre-prepared bagged variety.
Friendly and helpful staff who anticipated my needs and provided timely updates on the progress of my meal. It's a shame I'm only a visitor otherwise I would be here regularly.
