About This Pub

Ah, Captain Ridley's Shooting Party – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a casual night out. I've got to say, the traditional decor and cosy corners really give it that authentic pub charm, making it feel like a proper local hangout rather than just another chain spot. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand with a smile and efficient service, which makes ordering a pint or a bite feel effortless. And speaking of food, their offerings like the cheese meltdown burger are surprisingly tasty for the price, paired with those affordable drinks that keep everyone coming back. It's family-friendly too, with plenty of space and a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed lunch or a lively evening. On the flip side, it does have that standard Wetherspoons feel, so if you're after something more bespoke, it might not quite hit the mark. Plus, it can get a tad crowded during peak times, which might put a damper on things if you're hoping for a quiet chat. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts – honest, reliable, and full of those little touches that make a visit worthwhile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, with a traditional pub feel that makes you feel right at home as soon as you step in.
  • Staff are always friendly and attentive, providing quick service that really adds to the overall experience.
  • Comfy seating and clean facilities, like those spotless toilets, make it a great spot for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • They've got a nice selection of food and drinks, including tasty options like the cheese meltdown burger, and it's all at those affordable Wetherspoons prices.
  • Quirky decorations and local touches, such as Bletchley memorabilia, give it a bit of character that sets it apart from the usual chain pubs.
Cons
  • As it's a typical Wetherspoons, it can feel a bit generic at times, without much that's truly unique to the place.
  • It might get quite busy, especially in the evenings, which could mean waiting for a table or dealing with a bit of a crowd.

Classic sort of pub matched with decent service and lovely food. This Wetherspoons looks a little more traditional than the others I’ve visited, it’s got a warm pub feel. Comfy seats though I feel these seats are probably the nicest ones here. Has the new cheese meltdown burger, it was quite nice very cheesy and comes with chips, onion rings and a non alcoholic drink for the same price. A good deal, a lovely meal and a great experience

This was a brilliant pub for drinking, with a quirky style suiting its location in an area of Milton Keynes! This is shown through signs like the telephone one and the household phone itself beneath, counter is nicely laid out. I had a pint of Kopparberg and the glass roofing in part of this pub is pleasant, enjoyed the outdoor seating for most of my visit!

A huge Wetherspoons. I sat in a lovely corner booth. The decorations of pictures and Bletchley memorabilia was a nice touch, honouring those that saved the war. Toilets were very clean.

Visited here after New Year's Eve, just popped in for a beer, and ended up having lunch as well. This Weather spoons pub is one of the best family friendly in Milton Keynes I think, nicely decorated and kept very clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and do a great job of clearing the tables, you can see the food being prepared as it is an open style kitchen to be found at the rear of the venue. There is a large rear garden area with ample seating, also outside seating can be found at both the front and side of the venue. There is always a great selection of hand pulled real ales available, as well as the normal beers, lagers, ciders and wine. Also a good selection of the now very popular 0 alcohol drinks available for the driver, this is I think one of the selections of alcohol free beers I have seen. The food menu is very varied and something for everyone can be found, also I feel still gives great value for money in these times. Would definitely recommend a visit to this pub.

Usual wetherspoons. Quick stop for a drink or two. I like the seating area out there. Nice atmosphere you get as soon as you enter. Good and attentive staff and good service too. Dining area at the end of bar is very nice and holding plenty of seats. One more touchy Thing was coding machines they display of WW2.
