About This Pub
Ah, The Brewers 1841 – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a laid-back evening or a sunny afternoon by the canal. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the buzz around it, the place has had a smart revamp lately, giving it this charming mix of rustic charm and modern touches that make it feel fresh and inviting. The beers are where it truly shines; being part of Ossett Brewery, they've got a cracking range of craft ales that are full of flavour and perfect for us beer enthusiasts. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and efficient, which always makes a big difference when you're settling in for a chat. Plus, it's spot on for families or if you're out with the dog – plenty of space inside and out, and that outdoor suntrap is just brilliant on a nice day. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect; a few folks have mentioned the pizzas falling short, with limited choices and a taste that's a bit bland, making you wonder if it's worth the coin. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.6, it's clear the good outweighs the bad for most, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just maybe stick to the drinks if you're after something special to eat.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's got this lovely rustic and contemporary feel after a recent revamp, making it a proper cosy spot for a pint or a catch-up.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of beers from Ossett Brewery, perfect if you're after some craft ales with real northern roots.
-
The staff are friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and efficient service that makes you feel right at home.
-
It's brilliant for outdoor chilling, especially with that suntrap area – ideal for a sunny day by the canal.
-
Family and dog-friendly vibes make it a great choice for a relaxed outing with the kids or your furry mate.
Cons
-
The food selection isn't the best, particularly with pizzas that lack variety and can taste a bit samey, leaving you wishing for more options.
-
Some dishes, like those pizzas, might not live up to the price, feeling a tad underwhelming compared to what you'd get elsewhere for less.
-
The operating hours can be a bit confusing with varying closing times, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

Ordered pizzas , not a great selection to start off with.on serving one nearly slid off the flimsy cardboard it arrived on. Ordered different flavours , but all tasted very similar and had to ask for condiments to make it taste better. Had a nicer cheap one from Iceland not worth the price Iceland £2..50 pub £40 .......
Called in via a walk along the Calder & Hebble Navigation & River Calder. Nice & Sunny day, outside was busy and nice and cool inside with plenty of space, also Benny the cockerpoo enjoyed the shade & dog water bowl.
Lots of beers mainly from Osset Brewer, friendly & welcoming staff.
This has had a positive revamp recently and it doesn't disappoint. Rustic and contemporary with a glazing of upmarket style. Has a wonderful suntrap on the outside. Perfect location for a fruit cider in the basking sun.
Visited Saturday afternoon with family and friends it was so lovely we sat outside enjoying drinks and food, the pizzas were absolutely delicious as were the fries and onion rings. Service friendly and efficient, kids loved the ice cream. Our new favourite pub in ossett will definitely be back again soon.
