About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Border Terrier – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with that warm, family-run charm that's hard to beat, and the staff are always up for a chat, making it feel like you're catching up with old friends. The food really steals the show; it's all homemade and packed with flavour, whether you're tucking into a juicy burger or something from their gluten-free menu, and at such good value, it's no wonder folks rave about it. They've got plenty going on to keep things lively, like quiz nights and watching the match in their beer garden, which is brilliant if you've got a furry friend in tow. On the flip side, it does close up a bit early, so it's more suited to an afternoon or early evening stop rather than a late-night adventure, and if you're after a wider range of dishes or a more energetic crowd, it might not quite hit the mark. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint and a bite, especially if you're in the area and fancy that authentic community feel – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot-on – think hearty, home-cooked meals like delicious burgers and pizzas at really reasonable prices, with plenty of options for vegetarians and those needing gluten-free choices.
-
It's got such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates, complete with friendly staff who make you feel right at home.
-
Loads of fun things on offer, like quiz nights, poker evenings, and live sports on multiple screens, plus a cracking beer garden that's dog-friendly for when you fancy a pint in the fresh air.
-
Being a family-run spot, it has a real community feel, with extras like wheelchair access and parking making it easy for everyone to pop in.
Cons
-
Food service wraps up a bit early, so if you're after a late-night bite, you might need to plan ahead – it's until 7:30 on weekdays and even earlier on Sundays.
-
As a local community pub, it could feel a tad quiet or less vibrant on off-peak nights if you're seeking a more lively, buzzing scene.
-
The menu, while tasty, doesn't seem to have a huge variety beyond the classics, which might not excite if you're in the mood for something a bit more adventurous.

Great afternoon here, had bar tab with made things easier. We both had pizza with a portion of home made chips, delicious. We couldn't finish pizza so we're given a box to take it home. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and nothing was a bother for them. We will definitely be back.
Very lucky to have this as our local! Recently moved down the road so only been a handful of times but every time it’s been great.
They serve delicious home cooked food at very reasonable prices and has a gluten free menu which is great!
The Mother’s Day menu was great today and we got complimentary Buck’s Fizz and some chocolates. Such a lovely touch.
