About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Boaters Inn – it's one of those places that just draws you in with its prime spot along the Thames, where you can sit back and watch the world go by. I love how they've got this spacious beer garden and a balcony that's ideal for catching the sunset; it's perfect for a casual catch-up over a pint of their CAMRA-certified real ales. The food's a real highlight too – think delicious Sunday roasts that arrive piping hot and full of flavour, plus inventive menus with plenty of options for those after something lighter or plant-based. The staff are an absolute treat, always attentive and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the homely feel. On the flip side, though, I've noticed a few areas where the building could do with a freshen-up; some rusty patches and wear might make it feel a tad less polished than you'd hope. Still, it's got that easy-going charm that's hard to beat, especially with fun events popping up to keep things exciting. All in all, if you're up for a laid-back day by the water, it's well worth a visit – just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The riverside location is absolutely stunning, right on the Thames with beautiful views that make any visit feel special.
  • Service is top-notch and friendly; the staff really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, just like chatting with old mates.
  • Food options are brilliant, with tasty Sunday roasts, a new Prix Fixe menu, and great choices for veggies and vegans that hit the spot.
  • The beer garden is a gem, perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a pint in a cosy atmosphere with heaters for chillier days.
  • They've got fun events like the Dragon Boat Festival and specials such as Wing Wednesday, keeping things lively and engaging.
Cons
  • Some parts of the building show signs of wear and tear, like rusty bits, which can detract from the overall charm.
  • The atmosphere might not always live up to the hype; it's pleasant enough, but it doesn't quite wow everyone from the get-go.

I came here for a Sunday roast. When I arrived, the atmosphere was not bad but not great. Some parts of the building were damaged or rusty. The service was good. Food got to the table in under 10 minutes. Normally in other pubs I go to, the food takes a long while to arrive but this pub is on the go! Despite the atmosphere, the food is the main part of the show and it delivered on the spot! I will come back here again because of the amazing balances and sauces to combine and taste. If people consider coming here, you should come: try the best food there is in Kingston!

Beautiful location and views from the pub. Great Veg/Vegan options and staff is very friendly. Enjoyed my little pit stop on the river walk for a coffee and sourdough bread hummus.

Warm and welcoming service here. Lovely location and busy for the Sunday Roast. All the trimmings served with a smile by Imogen and the team. A decent meal and a good find.

Had Sunday roast lunch. We ordered the beetroot hummus starter, which is something I wouldn’t have ordered myself but my friend did and it was really yummy. Sunday roast chicken with a side of cheeses cauliflower was also ordered, and everything was cooked perfectly with the chicken being tender. As I don’t eat pork / beef, they gave me veggie gravy. Shame the peach Melba was out. Instead, we ordered sticky toffee pudding and profiteroles. The only issue with the food was profiteroles tasted not fresh and dry/hard. Everything else was delicious! Good gin and tonics. Service was also great. Great atmosphere on the riverside too!
