About This Pub

Ah, the Britannia Inn – it's one of those timeless pubs that takes you back to a simpler era, with its 1930s charm and that welcoming carpet that just makes the place feel snug and inviting. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's spot on if you're after a quiet spot to catch up with friends over a drink, without any of that thumping music ruining the conversation. The staff sound like absolute gems, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels right at home, and the drinks are reasonably priced, which is a real winner for keeping things affordable. On the flip side, it's a bit of a letdown if you're a fan of real ales, as they're not on the menu, and honestly, the pub could use a bit of a spruce-up to shake off the years. Some folks mentioned it's perfect for a casual get-together but not so much for a special night out, so it's all about setting your expectations. Overall, if you're in Barrow-in-Furness and fancy a no-fuss pint in a friendly setting, it's worth a go – just pop in and see for yourself!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The traditional 1930s style and cosy atmosphere really make you feel at home, especially with that lovely carpet adding a warm touch.
  • It's a great spot for enjoying a quiet drink and a good chat without any blasting music getting in the way.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, just like a proper local pub should be.
  • You can get good, cheap drinks here, which is always a plus for a casual night out.
Cons
  • It's a shame there's no real ales on offer, which might disappoint if that's your thing.
  • The place could do with some updating and renovation to freshen it up a bit.
  • It might not be the best choice for a romantic evening or a date, as it feels more suited to mates having a laugh.
  • With no specific operating hours listed and the current status seeming a bit unclear, you might want to double-check before heading over.

Traditional neighbourhood pub. 1930s style. I really like the carpet - adds a cosy feeling. No ales, but this doesn’t seem like the town for ales😕

The pub is in serious need of renovation but it depends what your out for. Perfect for getting smashed with your mates but not somewhere you would want to go on a date.
