About This Pub

Ah, the Robin Hood – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Barrow, tucked away in the heart of the shipbuilding community. I have to say, what really stands out is the quality of the Robinsons ale; it's served fresh and at fair prices, making it a go-to for anyone who appreciates a good pint without the fuss. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure you feel right at home, which pairs nicely with the lively entertainment like karaoke on Fridays – we've heard it's a blast, with some cracking tunes in between the singers. It's got that warm, traditional feel with pub games to keep things entertaining, and if you're visiting the area, the letting rooms could be a handy option for a comfortable stay. On the flip side, it does come across as a bit of a locals' spot, so if you're not from around there, it might take a moment to settle in, though from the feedback, it's generally pretty inclusive. Also, sorting out the opening times can be a chore since they're not always straightforward, and it's more about that no-nonsense vibe rather than anything flashy, which might not suit everyone. All in all, if you're after an honest, enjoyable pub experience with great beer and a welcoming crowd, it's well worth popping in for a chat and a drink.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The real ale here is top-notch, with Robinsons brews served at genuine prices that make you feel like you're getting a proper pint without breaking the bank.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and great service that really adds to the cosy atmosphere.
  • It's got a lively vibe with regular entertainment like karaoke and music nights, which makes for a fun evening and keeps things memorable.
  • As a traditional terraced pub, it offers a relaxed spot to unwind, complete with pub games and even letting rooms if you're staying over in the area.
Cons
  • It seems to be very much a locals' haunt, which might make newcomers feel a bit out of place at first, though everyone we've heard from says it's welcoming enough.
  • The operating hours aren't clearly listed, so you might have to double-check before heading out, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're planning a visit.
  • From what I've seen, it's a straightforward traditional pub without many modern frills, so if you're after something fancy or trendy, it might not quite hit the mark.

Had a fantastic time at the Robin Hood. Friday night Karaoke 🎤 played really good tunes between singers (the singers were pretty good too). Saturday night was music night, which again was really good. The locals & staff were very friendly & welcoming.
