About This Pub
Ah, The Blackbird – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Leicester, you know? From what I've gathered, it's all about that heartfelt welcome and a menu packed with fresh, flavoursome dishes that cater to everyone, whether you're tucking into a mega mixed grill or opting for something veggie-friendly. The prices are fair and the daily deals make it an easy choice for a casual catch-up with friends over a pint or a bite. It's got that relaxed vibe perfect for watching the game or just chilling out, and I love how they're so involved in the community, lending a hand to local causes. That said, while the recent feedback has been top-notch with folks raving about the food and service, the overall rating hints that it might not be flawless every visit – perhaps the odd meal isn't quite as sizzling as you'd hope, or the atmosphere could feel a bit ordinary on busier nights. Still, for a straightforward, enjoyable pub experience without breaking the bank, it's definitely worth popping in; just keep an eye on those opening times to avoid any surprises!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff at The Blackbird are always so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got a cracking selection of fresh, quality ingredients on the menu, including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, and the food like those sizzling skillets and burgers is absolutely delicious.
-
It's brilliant value for money, with honest prices and daily offers that make it easy on the wallet for a good meal and a pint.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for a relaxed evening – whether you're catching up with mates over sport or just unwinding after work.
-
They're really involved in the local community, helping out with charities and offering their function area for free, which is a lovely touch.
Cons
-
While recent reviews are glowing, the overall rating sits at a steady 3.9, suggesting there might be the odd off day with service or food quality that doesn't quite hit the mark every time.
-
The pub feels like a solid traditional spot, but it might not stand out as particularly unique compared to others in Leicester, so if you're after something a bit more quirky, it could fall a tad short.
-
Operating hours seem a bit inconsistent in the details, which might lead to confusion if you're planning a visit late in the evening.

We visited The Blackbird Pub for the first time on a Thursday evening and had a great experience. It wasn’t overly busy, but there were quite a few small groups and couples enjoying drinks and food. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
We started with drinks and there were plenty of great offers available, including deals on cocktails. The pub also had a good selection of beers on draft. A lot of people were ordering food, and there were tempting sizzler deals on steaks that seemed really popular.
The food itself is classic pub fare, better than your average but not quite high-end. That said, the value for money is excellent, which is likely what makes this place so popular with locals. Portions were generous and served quickly.
We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day, Friday evening. It was much livelier with karaoke taking place and a 50th birthday party in full swing. One side of the pub was absolutely packed and buzzing with energy from the karaoke, while the other side was noticeably quieter, perfect for those wanting to enjoy a meal or chat in a more laid-back setting.
There’s also a pool table for a bit of fun and good parking available behind the pub. Just make sure to enter your registration on arrival to avoid any issues.
Overall, I’d give The Blackbird a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a great local with good food, decent prices, and a welcoming atmosphere, whether you’re in the mood for a chilled drink or a lively night out.
I had a mega mixed grill with a Stilton and port sauce that was absolutely divine. and a pint of wingman ale and my fiance had mac and cheese and garlic bread and an amaretto and coke the atmosphere was lovely and the meals were both delicious highly re recomended
Friendly staff, love the new food menu especially the mix & match snack starters. Also, was told there would be a new drinks menu coming out so I’m excited to come back to try it out. It’s nice place to come after work and relax for a pint and food.
Delicious breakfast, helpful and friendly staff, nice atmosphere. First time at breakfast here but definitely worth it so will come back.
