About This Pub

Ah, The Salmon, what a lovely spot it is in the heart of Leicester. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, traditional pub feel that's been given a fresh refurb, making it feel inviting without losing that authentic charm. The beer range is spot on, with plenty of real ales and ciders to choose from, and the staff are just brilliant – always up for a chat and making sure everything's just right. The food's a winner too; those cobs are hearty and delicious, perfect for soaking up a few pints. On the flip side, you might run into the odd flat cider, and it's a bit off the beaten path, so it pays to know where you're going. Overall, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a relaxed afternoon or evening out – just keep an eye on the opening times to avoid any surprises. It's got that high rating for a reason, and you can see why folks keep coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely top-notch, with a great range of real ales and ciders that really hit the spot.
  • The staff are so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's spotlessly clean, especially the ladies' toilets, which are a cut above the rest – always a nice surprise!
  • The food is brilliant; those ham salad and cheese and onion cobs are proper tasty and make for a perfect pub snack.
  • The atmosphere is charming, with a traditional back street pub vibe that's been nicely refurbished, plus a lovely outdoor area for when the weather's on your side.
  • Free fast wifi is a bonus, so you can stay connected without any hassle while enjoying your pint.
Cons
  • There have been a few mentions of flat ciders now and then, which is a bit disappointing when you're after that perfect pour.
  • It's tucked away down a side street, so it might be easy to miss if you're not familiar with the area.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent based on what's listed, which could catch you out if you're planning a visit.

Great proper Boozer with a large selection of beers.. Great Aspall cider and the best Ham salad and cheese and onion cobs. The pub is spotless and clean, with the best kept ladies toilets I have ever seen.

Nice little pub down a side street, well worth a visit. They had two flat ciders on and real ales. Their fresh ham salad cobs are amazing and worth a visit for them alone! Free fast wifi 34/20Mbps

Dropped in after getting off the bus at St Margaret's (it was a freezing cold day) as we heard it had been refurbished. Really nice interior, 12 handpumps and varied selection at a good price. Good cheese and onion cob to keep us going. Definitely will be back.
