About This Pub

Ah, the King Richard III – it's one of those pubs that just sticks in your mind for all the right reasons, though it's not without its quirks. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place has this brilliant atmosphere that's perfect for soaking up live music from up-and-coming local acts; it's got that cosy, energetic feel that makes an evening out feel special. And let's talk about the food – it's genuinely standout, with rave reviews about dishes like the Philly Steak burger that's packed with unbelievable flavours. Pair that with the staff, who sound like absolute gems, always on hand and making sure everything runs smoothly, and you've got a spot that feels like a proper hidden gem after its refurb. On the flip side, it's a shame about the limited draft beer choices; if you're someone who loves exploring different ales, you might find it a bit lacking. Plus, with it only being open four days a week and wrapping up early, you'll need to keep an eye on the schedule to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up with friends, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the good bits definitely outweigh the niggles, making it worth a try if you're in Leicester.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is fantastic, especially for enjoying new local music talent – it's a lively spot that really gets you in the mood for a good night out.
  • The food is absolutely top-notch; think exceptional flavours like that Philly Steak burger with loaded fries – it's a real treat if you're after something hearty and delicious.
  • Friendly and attentive staff who make you feel welcome right away, adding to that warm, homely vibe.
  • Recently refurbished, so it's clean and well-decorated, giving it a fresh and inviting feel overall.
Cons
  • Not a wide selection of draft beers, which might leave you wanting more if you're a real ale fan.
  • Only open four days a week with fairly early closing times, so it's a bit tricky to catch if you're planning a spontaneous visit.
  • The menu is on the smaller side, which could limit your choices if you're in the mood for variety.

Food here is exceptional. Absolutely unbelievable flavours. I had a Philly Steak burger with fries loaded with pork belly and crackling. Do I really need to say anything else?

Stellar pub all round. We were told the pub was recently refurbished. It is well decorated and very clean. The staff was friendly and attentive. Food was on point. Only downside was the lack of draft beer choices.

So been here before they had the refurb. I have to say they have done a fantastic job the pub and restaurant are now separate so the dining room is small but really good atmosphere and the whole place is really well decorated. Staff are amazing great team of people working here really attentive to the customers Brom and Amy looked after us in the restaurant thanks for the great service. Good choice of the beer and wine. The food small simple menu and items are changed on a regular basis. Food was simply stunning really generous portions sizes and amazing flavours. I'm not going to go into everything I had as you should come and try it yourself. Except the steak I had here is probably the best steak I've ever had was amazing. Worth your time and money give this place a try.
