About This Pub

Ah, The Billesley – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local gem in Birmingham, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff really shine through; they're chatty, helpful sorts who make you feel right at home, much like that server Tracey who got rave reviews for her top-notch service. The food's a winner when it's on form, especially those Sunday roasts that folks rave about – affordable and satisfying for a casual get-together with mates. Plus, with all the live sports action and family-friendly perks like outdoor play areas, it's spot on for a relaxed day out. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing; a few have had off days with meals that were dry, cold, or just not up to scratch, and waiting around for food can sometimes take the edge off the fun. Still, with its budget deals and welcoming atmosphere, I'd say it's worth popping in for a pint and a bite – just keep in mind it might not be perfect every time, but that's pubs for you!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant and go the extra mile, like Tracey who made our visit so welcoming and attentive
  • Food is generally tasty and affordable, with Sunday roasts coming in as a real highlight for a hearty, budget-friendly meal
  • It's a lively spot perfect for families, with plenty of facilities like outdoor play areas and live sports screenings to keep everyone entertained
  • Great value deals, such as tucking into selected dishes for just a tenner on weekdays, make it easy on the wallet
  • Convenient location with a car park and easy access, plus it's open seven days a week for whenever the mood strikes
Cons
  • Food quality can be hit or miss, with some reports of dry, cold dishes or burnt bits that left a bad taste – not ideal for a relaxing outing
  • Wait times for food might drag on, like one instance where it took 40 minutes and arrived underwhelming
  • The overall experience isn't flawless, as a few meals fell short on freshness and texture, which could put a dampener on things
  • While it's family-oriented, not every visit lives up to the hype, so you might want to keep expectations in check

Our server Tracey was absolutely lovely and so helpful. She is a credit to the pub. The food was good and very affordable. We had the Sunday roast and a pudding and both were delicious. Would definitely come again.

The food if that’s what you can call it, took 40 mins to arrive and when it did, it was dry, the bread was burnt on the outside and soggy and inedible on the inside. The chicken was bone dry and cold. We couldn’t finish it. Our side order of Mac and cheese was like chewing gum. Staff were lovely and polite, just a shame the food time and quality was a let down.

Visited here for Sunday lunch. Opted for the vegetable tart Sunday Dinner. As we love our gravy, we quickly emptied our jugs over the meal and very impressed with a passing server, noticing our love for gravy, offered to get us more. Meal was good but the pastry of the tart was on the tough side but was improved by being soaked in gravy! We ate every bit but I did feedback about the pasty to the server, who collected the empty plates, and this was very positively received and she said this would be fed back to the kitchen. For dessert we shared a sharing sundae which was delicious. Good veggie options and very kiddie friendly (little play area outside)
