About This Pub

Ah, The Beehive in Newcastle – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming buzz and great value for money. I've heard from loads of folks that the drinks are spot on and won't set you back much, which is always a win when you're out for a pint or two with mates. The atmosphere is proper lively, especially if you're into watching the footie or Cheltenham on the telly; it's always buzzing, and that makes for some memorable evenings. The staff deserve a shout-out too – they're brilliant at keeping things running smoothly, even when it gets a bit mad. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; some have mentioned that without a bouncer on weekdays, things can get a bit sketchy with the odd troublemaker, which isn't ideal and puts extra pressure on the team. Plus, the toilets aren't the easiest to find, and while the beer selection is decent, a few more ales would really elevate it. Overall, it's a solid choice for a fun night out, but go in with your eyes open to those little rough edges – it's got that charm that keeps people coming back, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The drinks are incredibly affordable, making it a brilliant spot for a night out without breaking the bank.
  • The atmosphere is always lively and buzzing, especially with it being a popular place for watching TV sport and catching up with mates.
  • The staff are fantastic and really welcoming, handling things with a smile even when it gets hectic.
  • There's a solid selection of beers and ales, with some great options from local breweries like Wylam.
  • It's reliably busy and feels like one of the best pubs in Newcastle, perfect for a good time with friends.
Cons
  • There isn't a bouncer on during the week, which can lead to some dodgy characters and put a bit of a damper on things for the staff.
  • The toilets aren't well signposted, which might leave you wandering about when nature calls.
  • The beer selection could do with a few more ales on tap to give more variety for those who fancy something different.
  • It can get a tad overwhelming when it's packed, and you might wish for a bit more space to relax.

Was there last week .and the only reason I gave 4 star for atmosphere is because thay don't have bouncer on during the week .and the staff have to put up with a lot of dodge carrecter. Ps can I say the staff are fantastic and the bar is great and magority of the customer are great .but the only down fall is the bar staff should not have to deal with some of the dodgie customers . Pay bouncer and keep it a great bar

First visit here. Paulicarus took the only real ale, the house beer by Wylam brewery. Enjoyed it. A wrap around bar just off the Bigg market. Popular with TV sport; Cheltenham week.Toilets to rear. Almost pis8sed them, not well signposted.

We went only for a drink late Saturday night. It was still fairly busy after 11pm. Not a bad beer selection although a few more ales on the pumps would be nice.

I’ve been to The Beehive multiple times, and it never disappoints! The atmosphere is lively and always buzzing with energy. The drinks selection was solid, with a good variety of beer and ales. The best part, without a doubt, is the affordable drinks, which makes it a fantastic spot to hang out without breaking the bank. The pub decor is cool and has that classic charm, creating a great vibe. Service at the bar is consistently excellent—friendly and quick, even during busy times.
