About This Pub
Ah, Newcastle Tap – what a gem it is for anyone who loves a good pint in a lively setting. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its massive array of beers and ciders; imagine having 24 lines on tap, including those rare cask ales that are becoming harder to find these days. Pair that with their homemade pizzas using that special beer dough, and you've got yourself a right tasty combo that's drawn in plenty of positive vibes from visitors. The location's spot on too, just across from the station, making it an easy stop for a quick drink or a relaxed evening. The team behind the bar seems genuinely clued up and friendly, always ready to recommend something new or help you navigate the menu. But, let's be fair, it's not all perfect – some folks have noted the music cranks up a bit too high, which could spoil the chat if you're out for a mellow night. And there are occasional gripes about the food not always living up to expectations, like when extras don't quite deliver as promised. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for us pub goers looking for a welcoming spot with great brews, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe plan for a quieter visit if that's your thing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – with 24 draught lines including cask and keg options, plus a huge range of bottled and canned brews from around the world, you're spoilt for choice no matter what you're in the mood for.
-
The pizzas are a real treat; they're made fresh on-site with that clever beer dough, giving them a unique twist that's both crispy and full of flavour.
-
It's in a prime spot right near Newcastle Central Station, making it super convenient with great views of the street and a spacious, comfortable vibe that's perfect for relaxing after a day out.
-
The staff are knowledgeable and always up for a chat, helping you pick the perfect pint or sharing tips on what's new on tap.
Cons
-
The music can get a bit too loud at times, which might make it hard to have a proper conversation if you're after a quiet catch-up.
-
There have been a few mentions of inconsistencies with food portions, like extra toppings not quite matching up to the price, so it pays to double-check when ordering.

Spacious comfortable central with great views of Neville Street and the Royal Station my favourite hotel in my favourite city. Great beer selection too!
Good selection of beers, but the music is very loud. Option 50/50 for pizza is good, although the amount of extra meat topping didn't correspond to the extra charge taken for it.
Making my first visit to Newcastle in 20 years. A first for Paulicarus. Starting off in this CAMRA 2025 Good Beer Guide entry. A choice of 6 handpump real ales. 2 ciders and lots of fizzy beers as well. Paulicarus chose an unfiltered 3.4% New England Pale by Tapped Brew Co, Astral Voyage. An excellent session beer. A very modern bar with a large Mezzanine. Food served. £ 7.50 for my pint and a half of Mittel lager. Great position opposite station.
Great pizza, great beer, great atmosphere. What more could you ask for? The staff were very helpful while I took way too long choosing my beer from the impressive selection of keg and cask ales. It's a great location too, set just opposite the railway station. I'll look forward to going back. Cheers.
Excellent location.. very centre just across the street from the main station. Solid quality for the price and the bartenders are awesome. The menu is all about Spanish flavors and I’d totally recommend giving it a try. But if you’re into beer.. you're at the right place. They’ve got a great lineup of craft brews on tap. And if that’s not your thing their cocktails are pretty solid too... ladies might especially appreciate that!
