About This Pub

Ah, The Soccer Bar in Barrow-in-Furness – it's one of those places that really captures the heart of a community, especially if you're mad about football. I love how it's right next to the stadium, making it an ideal spot to grab a pint and catch the latest match on those massive HD screens, all while soaking up that warm, enthusiastic atmosphere. The staff often shine through with their helpfulness, like sorting out last-minute changes for events or even going the extra mile in tricky weather – it's those little touches that make you feel right at home. Plus, with the games room and regular live music nights, there's plenty to keep you entertained, and the prices are spot on for a casual night out. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales of staff not always being on their best behaviour, which can put a damper on things if you're there for a special occasion. The food situation is a bit hit-and-miss, relying on outside caterers, and those varying opening times might catch you out if you're planning a spontaneous visit. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good craic with friends, but like any local spot, it's got its quirks – pop in with an open mind, and you'll likely have a top time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are generally friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, especially for events and functions.
  • It's a brilliant spot for football fans, with live sports on big HD screens and a real community vibe near the Barrow AFC stadium.
  • They've got a great games room with snooker, pool, and darts, perfect for a relaxed evening with mates.
  • Affordable options like cheap drinks and matchday parking make it accessible and convenient.
  • The function room hosts lively events and live music, offering something for everyone, from local acts to big match days.
Cons
  • There have been instances of unprofessional staff behaviour, like being rude or distracted during events, which can spoil the night.
  • Operating hours seem a bit inconsistent, particularly on Sundays, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.
  • Food options are limited, often relying on external catering, which might not always hit the mark if you're after a proper meal.
  • While it's welcoming for football supporters, it might feel a tad exclusive if you're not into the sport or a member.

We have events here around 4 times a year for the adults we support. The staff are always friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble

The owner was very flexible and accommodated a last minute change of wedding reception venue due to poor weather. He did his uptmost to ensure we had a really good time. He and his father even dug people's cars out of the snow and ferried people home. Top venue run by a top bloke.

We were here for a festival. Plenty of space and cheap drinks. Variety of soft drinks is good. Food was a catering company outside.

Here for a function in which the soccer bar was hired out for. During the night the bar staff (Alania) was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was numerous staff drinks on the back of the bar such as emerges and j20's. She was eating a takeaway and on her phone most of the evening whilst the tables were rammed with empty glasses. She served me a pint with lipstick all over the rim of the glass. After explaining this she was extremely rude and rather than pouring me another in a fresh glass she hid by the sink and tipped the beer Into another glass covering the lipstick. After asking for a fresh pint in a clean glass she was stroppy and extremely rude the rest of the evening. She let the young girl serve and run around while she ate her takeaway... My friend ordered a bottle of prosecco and she said she coudnt open it and that they don't have any ice buckets or coolers so the bottle went to room temp in 20mins. No sense of professionalism.
