About This Pub

Ah, the Sunflower Public House, tucked away in the heart of Belfast – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, they've nailed the basics with an impressive lineup of local craft beers and ales that really showcase the best of Irish brewing, alongside some cracking options from further afield. The live music every night is a highlight; it's got that lively energy that lifts your spirits and makes for a memorable evening out. The staff seem to go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, and the addition of a beer garden and tasty pizzas means it's not just about the drinks – it's a full experience. Of course, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few tales of strict closing times that can cut the fun short, leaving you with that 'oh, is that it?' feeling. Still, with such high marks from so many, it's clear this place does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a genuine, no-fuss pub vibe in Belfast. Just keep an eye on the time, and you'll have a whale of a time!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of local craft brews from Belfast and beyond – perfect for anyone who loves a good pint.
  • Live music every night adds such a brilliant buzz; it's like stumbling into a mini gig without leaving your local.
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a cracking beer garden and serve up delicious pizzas, which make for a great spot to relax with mates.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is a lovely touch if you're out with your furry friend, and the historical vibe gives it real character.
Cons
  • Closing times can be a bit rigid; some folks have had to dash out abruptly, which might leave you feeling a tad short-changed at the end of the night.
  • It might get a bit crowded during peak times, so if you're after a quiet corner, you could find it tricky to snag one.

Great pub! We went twice in the weekend we spent in Belfast. Great pizza, good beer, good prices.

What a fantastic pub! We were absolutely thrilled to find they serve Beamish! The staff were incredibly welcoming, creating such a warm and friendly atmosphere. The pizza kitchen was a hit too, and everyone was so friendly—chatting and enjoying their drinks. This was hands down our favorite pub in Belfast during our trip! We even had to grab some merch on the way out. Thank you, Sunflower! We can't wait to come back!

Great place. We were staying a Sunday night in Belfast on the way home from the Mourne Mountain Marathon in September so were ready for a good feed and a pint or two after a weekend in the hills. Great cask beer - can't remember what it was but it was very good. Delicious pizzas in the garden. Great service. Great friendly atmosphere. Later when we went indoors there was a music session going on. What more could you want!

Would have been much better if we’d been allowed to drink our drinks in the pub. We got serviced just before 1, then immediately told to put our untouched drink into plastic cups and to leave. So much for 30 mins to finish your drinks. So my advice would be to not stay too late! Left a bad taste in an otherwise good night. I also didn’t think you were allowed to drink on the streets, sos didn’t even finish it.
