About This Pub
Ah, Maddens – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around town, it's got this authentic Belfast spirit that's hard to beat, with traditional music sessions that get everyone tapping their feet and chatting away. The place is packed with character, from the old posters and artifacts on the walls to the friendly faces behind the bar, and it's brilliant for grabbing a pint of Guinness that's often hailed as the best in the city. Prices are fair too, which is always a win when you're out for a good time without the hefty bill. On the flip side, though, you might find yourself buzzing the door to get in, which is a bit of an old-school hassle tied to its history, and sorting out details online can be a faff since their website isn't up to scratch. Overall, it's a gem worth visiting if you're after a proper, down-to-earth pub experience, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother night out.

It's a no-frills spot that's full of soul and character, ideal for anyone looking to experience the real essence of Belfast's pub scene.
Cons
-
You might have to buzz the door to get in, which is a quirky remnant of the past and could feel a tad inconvenient if you're not expecting it.
-
The online presence is a bit lacking – their website had some issues, so it's not the easiest to check out details before heading over.

Madden’s is a hidden gem in Belfast, known for its cozy vibe, strong traditional Irish music, and local crowd. No-frills, full of soul, and rich in culture. A perfect spot for a pint, a tune, and a true feel of Belfast’s folk spirit.
Wonderful old pub in Belfast, please stop by and have a pint!
A wonderful pub house next to the Kelly's Cellar. Once you buzz the door ring and you're let in (remains of a trouble era a patron told me), this is a great place to get some pints of ale or cider. Lots of artifacts hanging on the walls, posters and advertising signs all around, this is what you would expect to find in such a old boozer (all due respect of course).
The best Guinness in Belfast. Wonderful, friendly, authentic little pub. My favourite in all of Belfast. Traditional music sessions are often available adding to the wonderful atmosphere. I can, and have, spent my entire evenings at this gem of a pub. I cannot recommend it enough.
Hands down the most authentic pub I have been so far in Belfast. Local vibes, lively atmosphere, nicely loud, best thing to do on Sunday evening. +++ For 5.5. pounds for a pint of Harp considering the location and competitors' pricing (have not found any popular pub of less than 6.2 pounds for harp)
