About This Pub
Ah, the Star & Garter – it's one of those classic Manchester spots that really gets the heart racing for anyone into live music and a good night out. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the staff are just brilliant, always on hand with a smile and making sure you're looked after, which really adds to the warm, community feel. The events calendar is packed with all sorts of gigs, like those iconic Smiths nights or up-and-coming bands, so if you're after some proper entertainment, this place delivers in spades. And let's not forget, the drinks are sensibly priced, meaning you can kick back and enjoy without emptying your wallet. On the downside, though, it's clear the venue's been around the block a few times – it's a bit dated in places, and the stage layout can make things feel a tad cramped, especially when the crowd's buzzing. There have been a few grumbles about sound glitches during shows, which might spoil the mood if you're there for a big performance. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, but go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking time – perfect for us lot who appreciate a bit of character in our local haunts.

The Star & Garter is my favourite pub in all of Manchester. Home to the famous Smiths disco and MozArmy meet, which I attend every year. The staff are absolutely brilliant, can't fault them.
Showing her age, but good pub for a live gig. We went to Mozzfest. Very reasonably priced drinks. Lovely staff.
Went for Mozarmy Annual Party...Had lots of good drinks & lots of fun
Not a bad venue. Not cheap, but not the most expensive either. Stage seems awkwardly placed. It leaves people very much in the way. They were having a few technical difficulties, I don't know if it was a band or venue issue. Barman was very nice. Sound could have been better. Looked like the cubicle in the men's was locked off. I'd definitely go again.
A small but worthy gig venue, went to see Marisa and the Moths, Kite Thief's and Kit Rigg. So let me tell you more, if your a booking agent book your bands in, if your an independent band or singer use this class public place. The atmosphere was superb, the beers where great, wine was chilled and as the females said "Darling it's making me feel fruity" which leads me on to the staff, well these guys were fast, polite and very helpful. Didn't wait anymore than two minutes to get served which was good as the place was full, got to say its a must place to watch a great gig at reasonable prices. Long live independent music venues. It's also just a few minutes walk to Piccalilly Railway Station, Bus routes and local taxis
