About This Pub

Ah, Small Bar – it's one of those places in Bristol that just hits the spot for a good night out. From what I've gathered from chats with others, the beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a real emphasis on the finest brews from the South West and beyond, so if you're a fan of a proper pint, you'll feel right at home. And don't even get me started on the food; their fried chicken and dirty chips are a cut above the usual pub grub, adding a lovely twist to your visit. The staff are always chummy and create such a warm atmosphere, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for the evening. That said, it does tend to fill up quickly, so you might have to time your trip carefully to avoid the crowds, and if beer isn't your thing, you could find the options a bit limited. All in all, it's a cracking choice for anyone wanting a genuine, enjoyable pub experience without the pretence – just remember to go with an open mind and a hearty appetite!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • A cracking selection of beers, especially from top South West breweries, making it a real showcase for local talent.
  • Delicious bar food like juicy buttermilk fried chicken and amazing dirty chips – it's a treat for the taste buds.
  • Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, perfect for a relaxed evening.
  • Great spot on King Street with plenty of outdoor seating, ideal for enjoying a pint on a sunny day.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, so you might struggle to find a seat during peak times.
  • Primarily focused on beers, which means it might not suit if you're after a wider range of drinks like wines or cocktails.
  • No phone number listed, which could make it a bit tricky if you need to check on anything before heading over.

Awesome small bar with great selection of drinks and friendly staff. Good location on the end of King's Street. Lots of seating outside, great atmosphere inside. Fun place to start the night or stop at on the way through a tour of Bristol bars. The Chocolate Stout served here is particularly memorable. 👌 🍻

I've visited small bar many times since arriving in Bristol as a student 11 years ago and it is always a complete treat. They continue to keep the beer selection interesting and exceptional, with the occasional completely weird beer. The food is amazing-- so much better than you'd expect for pub food. Lots of options for vegetarians.

We picked up takeaway from Small bar on a Friday night! We got burgers, dirty chips and wings! Everything was excellent and tasted amazing. The dirty chips were definitely my favourite. Worth a visit for drinks, but definitely try some food as well.

Small bar is a great venue. I've been here a few times now for food and it does not disappoint. Went for dirty fries with fried chicken and gravy and their signature chicken wings with Korean sauce, both dishes were amazing. Chicken wings were crispy. This place really knows how to cook chicken.
