About This Pub

Ah, The Castle in Nottingham is one of those pubs that just draws you in with its historic feel and relaxed charm, especially being right near the castle gatehouse. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, it's got this cosy atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding over a pint or tucking into some proper pub food – think juicy burgers and tasty sandwiches that really hit the mark without breaking the bank. The beer selection is a real highlight, with a rotating lineup of local and international brews that'll please any ale enthusiast, and it's great to see them hosting events like live music or beer festivals to keep things lively. Service-wise, the staff are spot on, always making you feel welcome and sorting things out quickly. On the flip side, going cashless might be a bit of a nuisance if you're not prepared, and while most of the food is bang on, a few items like the garlic bread can be overly salty, so it's worth keeping that in mind. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual catch-up or a sunny afternoon session, but maybe give it a go on a quieter day to fully enjoy the vibe.

We stopped for a weekday lunch and have to say we had a great experience. The venue is cosy and welcoming and nicely decorated. The food was excellent and well presented, and service was top-notch Dogs are welcome inside, which is an added bonus. A good selection of beers and ales, including independent brewers.

It must be 15-20 years since we'd been in this old pub. We used to visit most weekends. Very busy when we visited as the new Nottingham breweries beer festival was on, but there was a great atmosphere, good choice of drinks and the food looked & smelt great, but we didn't eat here this time. Staff very good, friendly & efficient. Only spoilt by the toilet area, although apparently this is being addressed as it's not the pubs fault. We'll be back as we had a great night here.

Lovely pub nearby the castle. I think their best menu item is their sandwich deal which is a perfect bite for under a tenner and fills you enough to start thinking about a side of cheesy garlic bread (slightly on the salty side). Their burgers are amazing too, the patties juicy and other fillings matching perfectly. Just be aware that their bathrooms might get a bit wet during a rainy day - they're well aware of it and it's just a classic 'council know but aren't doing anything'. I applaud the pub for just getting on and serving amazing meals anyway

visited for Mother’s Day and were happy with the food. The hog roast rarebit was delicious, and the burger was good. Mum said the lamb and mint pie was lovely too! Lovely atmosphere with lots of outdoor seating, perfect for warmer weather.

Decent pub close to the castle with a wide selection of local beers + the usual continental lagers. The menu is modern & a bit predictable but totally fine for this type of boozer. Well worth a visit as far better than most of the other places in the Vicinity & the local beers are well worth trying.
