About This Pub

Ah, The Theatre Bar, it's one of those places that really comes alive in the wee hours, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's a cracking spot if you're up for some karaoke and a good laugh with mates, especially after midnight when the atmosphere gets buzzing. The staff seem like absolute gems, always on hand to help out and keep things running smoothly, and I love that they've added a second bar – it's a smart touch that makes the place feel more welcoming even on busier nights. Plus, with solid security around, you can let your hair down without fretting too much. On the flip side, though, it's not all roses; it can be a bit of a ghost town if you arrive before things heat up, and once it does get packed, it might feel a tad overwhelming. Then there's the odd grumble about the bouncers being a bit heavy-handed or that minimum card payment rule, which could leave you feeling a smidge short-changed. Overall, it's worth a punt if you're in the area and fancy a night out, but maybe plan to swing by later on to catch it at its best – just keep those experiences in mind for a balanced evening!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere really picks up late at night, making it a brilliant spot for a singalong and some good fun with friends.
  • The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive, always ready to make your visit enjoyable.
  • They've made some nice improvements, like adding a second bar, which helps keep things flowing smoothly even when it's busy.
  • Good security means you can relax and enjoy yourself without worrying about any nonsense kicking off.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit dead if you turn up too early, so you might end up with the place to yourself when you're after a lively vibe.
  • Sometimes it gets overcrowded, which can make it uncomfortable, especially if you're trying to move around or chat.
  • There are reports of issues with the bouncers being a bit unfair or strict, which might put a damper on your night.
  • That minimum card payment of £10 feels a tad cheeky, particularly when the drinks aren't overly pricey to begin with.

Good fun although we learnt that you do not go before 12.30am as it's dead ok if there's a few of you you can basically have the bar to yourselves but if your wanting a good atmosphere and for everyone to hear you sing go later on in the night well early morning to get this. Staff are helpful and friendly the drinks are not too badly priced but if your wanting to pay by card min spand is £10 so deffo need to be buying in rounds.

overcrowded pub/bar karaoke spot where if you're lucky enough to end up there you're almost guaranteed to see a baggy or two on the floor. minimum card payment of £10 is a bit shoddy given drinks aren't terribly priced.

Some new improvement, as in second bar, now you'd think a pub that small, a second bar would be over kill, but it works and it looks good, If your out on the town, call in and see Adam, lynsey and the team, Blessings Rev Shaun (frequent patron)

Excellent hosts - nothing is too much trouble - attentive bar staff - good security means you don't have to worry about trouble - good music that reflects the crowd that's in - really good overall and would recommend anyone to go there! If you're from outside the area, just go and have a good time - drink prices are also reasonable.
