About This Pub
Ah, Riverside Farm, tucked away near Nottingham's centre, is one of those pubs that feels like a reliable old mate – you know, the kind you catch up with for a bite and a chat. I've heard from a few who've raved about the carvery; it's got that comforting spread of meats, veg, and all the trimmings that really hit the spot on a good day, and at prices that won't break the bank, it's perfect for a family Sunday lunch or a quick weekday refuel. The staff often come across as genuinely friendly, adding a warm buzz to the place, and with handy facilities like outdoor seating and parking, it's easy to make yourself comfortable. But, let's be honest, it's not all sunshine – some have had a rough go with food that's not as fresh as it'd like to be, or gravy that's more miss than hit, which can dampen the mood. Service can get a bit frazzled when it's heaving, so you might end up waiting longer than expected. Overall, though, if you're after a no-fuss pub experience with a carvery that's worth the hype when it's good, give it a try – just keep your expectations balanced and maybe go on a quieter day for the best of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The carvery is a real standout – when it's on form, it's packed with tasty options like juicy meats and crispy roasties, making it a brilliant choice for a hearty meal.
-
Staff are generally warm and welcoming, often going the extra mile to make you feel at home, which adds a nice touch to the whole experience.
-
It's super family-friendly with plenty of facilities like a car park, outdoor seating, and even EV charging, so it's easy to pop in with the kids or after a drive.
-
Prices are spot on for a casual outing – it's inexpensive without skimping on portions, so you can enjoy a good feed without emptying your wallet.
Cons
-
Food quality can be a bit hit or miss; some folks have mentioned dishes like the gravy or veggies not quite hitting the mark, which is a shame when you're craving that perfect roast.
-
Service might feel a tad overwhelmed during busy times, leading to waits or staff who seem a bit stretched, even if they're trying their best.
-
There are mixed reports on consistency – one visit might be spot on, but another could leave you underwhelmed, especially with things like timings or freshness.

Came in at 7:00pm on a Wednesday, waited for like a minute, staff were lovely.
There were so many people moaning and complaining but the wait was something like 10 mins, my party got to the front of the carvery line dead quick, absolutely brilliant.
The chef on the carvery was lovely, could see he was doing his best, we were told that they were short staffed so we were very patient.
Overall 10/10
All three of us will be coming back asap, best carvery I’ve ever had.
On top of this, one of our party was vegetarian, and we waited 0 mins to receive the veg dinner.
Brilliant!!!!

If I could give zero stars I would.
Staff are helpful, but overrun. Carvery on Sunday at 6pm was (we left at quarter past) awful.
Unsure if the timings were incorrect, most food was old, or fresh out of big tub…
Gravy was absolutely appalling, doesn’t help it went over everything..
Also no peas on a carvery? What is this blasphemy?
A waste of money!
Been here twice now and the food was great first time was a carvery second time was food off the menu. The first time the staff were lovely and couldn’t be more helpful the second time we went I had the feeling that they didn’t want to be there and couldn’t be bothered. I could also over hear the one server talking about my partner to other staff which is highly un professional. The pub its self is good with a lovely atmosphere and it was dressed up lovely for Christmas too. I just think the staff should be a little more careful with their attitude and how loud they are talking around customers.
Peaked our interest when driving past, was a great selection of food including the popular carvery. We did get a cake away as well and that was fantastic
Service was lovely and they accommodated us having a table for an hour before a big booking.
Stopped off here for a roast dinner.
The parking is plentiful with no problem finding a place to park.
Next to the car park is lots of outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day out so sitting out with our drinks was really peaceful.
The welcome from the staff was first class and friendly.
We got a table without any delays.
The toilets left a little to be desired. Very outdated, not well looked after and in need of some repairs.
The food was really nice.
Turkey and beef were good and tasty.
The carrots and the Yorkshire puddings were not good at all. This was a shame as everything else was really nice and tasty. Overall it did not spoil the meal.
I loved the parsnips. I’m not normally a parsnips person but boy they were amazing.
A relaxing meal well enjoyed
