About This Pub

Ah, Renegade Urban Winery – what a spot it's turned out to be in Walthamstow. I have to say, diving into their menu feels like a proper adventure; the wines are crafted with real passion right in London, using grapes from the best spots around the UK and Europe, and they're all about that sustainable vibe, which is just brilliant if you're into eco-friendly choices. We tucked into some delicious roasts and sides that hit the spot, and the overall atmosphere with its industrial charm and upstairs mezzanine makes it ideal for a relaxed catch-up with mates or even joining in on one of their events. The team there are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and helping you pick the perfect glass. But, to keep it real, I've noticed a couple of things that aren't quite perfect – like how some dishes could do with a bit more seasoning to really sing, and the prices on those wines might make you think twice if you're on a tighter budget. Still, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a special night out, as the good far outweighs the not-so-good, and it's got that genuine community feel that's hard to beat.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with standout dishes like their roasts and chargrilled artichokes that leave you wanting more.
  • They've got a cracking selection of innovative, sustainable wines made right here in London – perfect for anyone keen on trying something a bit different.
  • The staff are so friendly and attentive, always on hand to make recommendations and ensure you're having a great time.
  • The atmosphere is brilliant, with that cool industrial vibe, a nice mezzanine for a cosy spot, and even events like wine tastings to get involved in.
Cons
  • Some dishes, like the potatoes in the roast, can be a tad under-seasoned, which might leave you reaching for the salt shaker.
  • The wines are on the premium side price-wise, so it could feel a bit steep if you're out for a casual night without splashing out.

The best roast we've had in years, excellent wine and lovely staff. Can't wait to come back again.

We came for a bite and were pleasantly surprised by the place. The set up is really cool and with a nice mezzanine at the top where you can order wine and food. I saw some people were doing a wine tasting too. We ordered the artichoke, foccacia, olives, aubergine. All was really good but the foccacia was a bit dry. Though I thought the food was a bit pricey. It's a place i would see myself coming back with friends to chill. There is also a terrace outside which is very nice for summer.

As wine lovers it was probably just a matter of time before we came here. The location is really great with the barrels downstairs and the industrial vibes. Nothing not to love. We enjoyed two delicious Sunday roasts with beef. The potatoes were so nice but under salted. It’s not the same salting potatoes once they are done, the salt needs to be integrated in the cooking process. It’s like a whole different flavour. But enough about the potatoes, the food was still a 5. 🙂The service a little chaotic but friendly. A few words about the wine ‘experience’ itself: in a place like this you would expect the staff to explain the wines at least a little and reasonable prices for the tasting flights. Isn’t the idea to have a taste and maybe buy a bottle or two? We found the flights were a bit overpriced with £24 for 4 small glasses. Overall a fun place!

This is a real gem of a place. Friendly, attentive staff and comfortable surroundings. Innovative food menu, expertly executed. The wines on offer aren't cheap but are very much worth the money. Some genuinely different and tasty wines on offer. Best venue on the beer mile imho. 9/10 would recommend.

Came for a Friday evening meal, to try out this new promising place which is a fantastic addition to our neighborhood. The venue is impressive once upstairs. A "craft beer style" warehouse with ambient light, and nice crowd of people. The food was fantastic, the artichokes were chargrilled to absolute perfection. Served on bed of mixed grain, "barley style risotto" this was a very well crafted combination. Puddings were quite experimental, high quality chocolate mousse and olive oil and coffee and smoked chestnut, we both really enjoyed them, what more would you want on a Friday evening. Well yes one thing missing, was the front of the house manager's polite and welcoming attitude. We assume she was the manger as she was dressed differently to the rest of the staff and had a very domineering attitude. Between forcing us to the bar area at first, for no reason despite our request, and later telling me something to the tune of "I'm well know for my mind reading skills but you still need to tell me what your order is" when debating my menu choice, my experience of the evening was quite ruined despite the food and other staff being wonderful. Nobody needs this attitude on a Friday evening. It could have been just me, you never know. So don't be put off by it ☺️ the food truly is amazing!
